What is this tree and seed?

What is this tree and seed (nut?)? Eight or nine feet tall, growing next to a sidewalk and clearly intentionally planted. That seed is marble- or dime-sized, and I just picked this Friday, so it would have to be fruiting now in Austin, Texas. Don't worry, I'm not going to eat it. Just curious. Thanks!

Growing pains, should I seek help?

I'm a man and in my mid 20's. I'm currently working on attaining my masters in social work, I've been reading up on research and While I'm no psychiatrist I do feel that I have suffered episodes of abandonment. My Stepfather ( who has raised me since I was two) suffered during his upbringing. He never met his father and his mom neglected a lot of her motherly duties. [more inside]

Help me help my 11 year old brother grow up into an awesome person!

What can I do as his sister to help my brother grow up to an awesome person that's hardworking, successful, happy and responsible (and morally good) person. Also one who's educated and has a good amount of fun, worldly experiences. Right now I'm very afraid of him growing up and being a bad person destined for because because of all of the current situations in his life including the way he's being parented. [more inside]

Switching MA programs

Turn my veggie garden into flowers?

I put together a nice, deep raised garden box last summer and planted a bunch of vegetables. Most of them went bad and I don't want to do that this year. Rather than try to work a veggie garden into my life of full-time work and chasing after a 3-year-old, I'd like to plant some flowers and herbs that I can use to make bouquets to bring in the house all year long.... interesting tree choices for South Carolina yard?

The very large pecan tree shading our backyard is dying and must go this winter. We're looking for a replacement to be centered in the (1/8 acre or so) backyard. We don't want another shade tree - just a nice tree to anchor the yard. I'm specifically looking for especially odd/unique/interesting options - something that will surprise people. This is in zone 8a and would probably start as a seedling.

How do I grow marijuana legally for a living?

I live in Arizona, where medical cannabis has been state law for two years now. The industry is still a wee sapling, and it's a dream of mine to legally grow and sell to dispensaries and to patients directly. This is the best time to make my dream happen, before the market blossoms, yeah? Puns aside, I'm having significant trouble finding accurate and helpful information on the internet--how do I do legal cannabis growing? What's the application I need to turn in to which department to receive which license? What are the do's and don't's and points of etiquette in handling a federally illegal substance? Tell me what I need to know! [more inside]

What were Eleanor Roosevelt's exact words?

Hello, a while ago I heard a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt but since then I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It was along the lines of your mind growing with your experiences and age. The quote expresses her initial worry when as a late teenager she assumed her mind would maintain the same (limited) mindset, paradigm, mentality even into her adult, aged years. If I remember correctly the quote is short, being only a line or two. Thank you so much, this quote is very important to me!
