Was my vote in Democratic California primary thrown out?

Was my vote in Democratic California primary thrown out? When I got my CA driver's license in August I registered as a Green Party member. So yesterday I went to my polling place to vote. When I showed up they had all my info, and it was all correct. Now when I checked in I was asked how I wanted to vote, which threw me off because I was under the impression I could only vote in the Green Party primary. But I asked, and with no problems, receveid a ballot for the Democratic party.

I've been reading online about many of the problems CA has had with "declined to state" voters who voted Democratic. I know it has something to do with the bubble on the first or second page of the ballot that independent voters are supposed to check off if they want to vote for a Democratic presidential candidate. I checked that off, so in that area I'm fine.

BUT was I even allowed to vote in the Democratic primary? I was not registered "declined to state" but as a Green Party member. Yet I asked for and received a Democratic ballot. In the book that had everyone's info the woman even crossed out my party affiliation of GRN and wrote something else (I'm not sure what). So did my ballot get counted or was it thrown out?

Why shouldn't I vote Green?

Why would anyone not vote for the Green Party in the upcoming Canadian federal election? I realize that this can be an entirely subjective question, but after having just gone through the 5 major political party platforms (the Conservatives finally released theirs today) I find that most of what is outlined in the Green's meshes quite well with the typical Canadian ideology (maybe I'm being a little optimistic about this).

They're fiscally conservative, but have a fairly strong bent on a lot of the more progressive social issues (equality, environment, poverty) and are seeking to introduce acts that enforce accountability at the federal level and allow provinces and municipalities to better govern themselves. There is a great deal of discussion regarding farming and fisheries, aboriginal rights, and fairly good ideas regarding health care and how to combat health related issues before they tax an already burdened system.

I recently attended the all candidates meeting for my riding and while the NDP candidate was quite strong, I was also very impressed by the Green candidate and for the first time I'm considering not voting NDP.

This is serious question. I am in no way affiliated with the Green Party (or any political party for that matter) I just feel like I'm missing something.
