You ask a dude at the liquor store about wine, he's got opinions on maybe a hundred different varieties. Then the next lady has her own opinions about wine, and then they fight, and there is exciting vitality there, there is a big open world of fine beverage to explore. By contrast, you ask about Ouzo, and they say, "Well, I guess we got this one bottle right here." People, recommend me some Ouzo. Bonus points if you know where I can try a large variety of different Ouzos in the New York area.

I need to find the word meaning "a word with mixed Latin and Greek roots." It's not just "hybrid word," but a word that specifically indicated Greek and Latin origins. I've had several people remark that they know it but can't think of it, and my search skills have failed thusfar.

What do Greek speakers call dinosaurs? Do they use the same Greek-derived words that English speakers do ("dinosaur", "tyrannosaurus", "stegosaurus", etc)? Do these names sound as silly to them as calling those extinct animals "terrible lizards", "tyrant lizards", and "roof lizards" would to us?

Has anyone ever produced a movie with wholly Latin language dialogue? Not just snippets (e.g. Passion of the Christ), but a clear better-than-fifty-percent on-going conversation. (Productions of Latin plays definitely acceptable.) Second best would be extended audio only. (I did a post once with snippets- I'm looking for extended play, something commute worthy, say.) Finally, repeat above questions for ancient Greek. (There is a video of Medea by the NY Greek drama Company (1986, good luck finding it now). Anything of that sort would be of interest.) Thanks in advance.

Any recommendations for flashcard program? I'm looking for something free that runs on XP. The kicker: I need to be able to change the font on the cards and have access to a character map so I can use it for classical Greek. Everything I've found so far is crap or for OS X.

Tomorrow we'll be cheering for the Greeks over the Portuguese. As such, we want to serve great Greek snacks and/or desserts (things we can put out and then forget about the kitchen for the rest of the game). Problem: two guests are vegans. Googling hasn't returned anything interesting or trustworthy. What I'd love is a recipe someone has made before and trusts. I don't want to get burned, since our budget is tight, and then we'd have no snacks. In a pinch, we're willing to make generically Mediterranean food instead, and I'll probably have hummus, at least. Any tips?
