I have various questions related to GPS watches and cycle computers, particularly when used with Linux. [more inside]
We have been thinking of buying a GPS for our car; but been having a surprisingly difficult time making up our mind (at this point primarily between the Garmin nuvi 50LM GPS navigator and the pricier Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator). Would love to have your recommendations/suggestions if you have used either one of them (or a similar product). [more inside]
Snail trails on Garmin Nuvi 255W. When out and about this device is now making pale blue 'snail trails' on the map tracking the car from A to B. It is working as it should otherwise. Does this mean that the device is on its way out? I checked some forums but could find any mention of this bizarre behavior.
Just got a Garmin nüvi 1450. Garmin will let me download voices for it. Some of these are amusing, but are there other sources for voices beside the official Garmin Store? I'm willing to consider both free and paid voice packs if they're out there.

Can you recommend a device that measures pace, distance and (I guess) GPS for use while running? I'm most interested in tracking my pace and distance. And, if affordable, saving whatever routes I've run and uploading them to my computer. [more inside]
GPS fans: I have a Garmin nuvi 1300T bought 12/2009 with USA maps. It's been worth the cost already, but now I need maps of France. Should I add European maps to the US Garmin, or buy a new one in Europe?
My boss wants me to research GPS units for him to use since he'll be traveling a lot more in the near future. Any recommendations? I really don't know what I should be looking for in a good GPS unit. [more inside]
Without going ahead and junking my existing Polar system for a Garmin 305 or 405, is there any relatively small GPS unit I could clip onto my mp3 player armband to add the functionality I'd like (uploading routes to a Sportracks, motionbased, trainingpeaks like service...with the added benefit that I'd have something to take on a hike or go geocaching? My Garmin Nuvi (350) won't navigate when I attach it to my car's charger, which is a bummer for obvious reasons. It turns on, but the screen shows an image of it being attached to a PC, and it only goes back to navigation mode if I unplug it. [more inside]

I just bought a Garmin Forerunner 205. I love it, it's neat, wow, awesome. But I use an Apple and the software isn't compatible. Can someone walk me through how I can get my PowerBook to recognize the unit (and download the data) when I plug it in via USB and if there are any programs I can use that are similar to the "Training Center" software included?
I am about to start running in a more serious capacity, which is to say to train for races. I love gadgets, so I am drawn to both of these for various reasons. Which is better, Nike + iPod or the Garmin Forerunner 201? [more inside]
