Internet Killed the Video Star?

Other YouTube/Google-like services that allow more than 10min of video? I have some seminars and roundtables I've been in that someone asked me to post on YouTube or Google Video, but I see Google has recently ended Video as an upload service, while YouTube seems to cap uploads at 10 minutes. These are 0:40 - 3:00 videos, so that's a big no.

They're niche interest, and while marked 'public', they're generally only of interest to a few hundred people. They'll end up embedded on web pages and blogs, like most YouTube vids.

Free is best, cheap is acceptable. What are my options?

Easiest Way To Put DVD>Google Video ? This shouls be a pretty easy thing to do, but i am having trouble.

I have DVDs which I own the copyright to. (for example, old home movies converted to dvd.)

I want to upload to google video. (why there? because all the other places seem to have a 10 minute limit on uploads.)

is there a single piece of software that i can use to do the job for me? and if not, what is the best way to go?

rpping the dvd to my hard disk seems to take hours and hog my CPU... so to upload 50 DVDs like that is not practical...

(or is there a way to upload a .VOB to google video by chaning the extension to .mpg or something? :lightbulb:)

Audio and video are out of sync on mp4s downloaded from Google Video about 80% of the time. Is there anything simple that I can do about this? OSX, by the way, and it's mostly for watching on my iPod.

Downloading Videos Off Google: High Quality Off Limits?

I can't download high quality .avi files from Google Video with Keepvid. Any other way to grab them? I found a documentary on Google Video that looked interesting, after I hadn't been on for a while. I can't view Flash on this computer, so I find them and transfer to a USB stick for later with Keepvid. Last time I did so, I could get a high quality .avi just by clicking on the link. Now Keepvid just connects to vp.video.google.com, and I have to settle for the low quality version. Any other options for high quality downloads off Google Video?

Can a podcast include Google videos?

I'd like to offer videos on my site, as well as via a video podcast. I'd like to use Google video to host and share the file -- am I right in thinking that I will still have to have a version on my own server for the podcast? Ideally the file would be hosted in my environment and I'd be good to go, but we took a big bandwidth hit last time one of our videos went online, and we're going to do more and more. Google will save us money on the bandwidth, will make them easier to share and it means I don't need to build a flash movie player.

The kink comes with the podcast -- I'm pretty sure I can't link to the file on Google's servers directly for use in the podcast XML, so I need to have the file on my server anyway, which means I'm maintaining two files for each movie.

Does anyone have any thoughts to make this more tenable?

Auto-export of embedded Flash video to second monitor?

Can embedded Flash videos (ala YouTube and Google Video) automatically export as full screen to a second monitor like Windows Media Player and Quicktime does? Whenever I watch embedded videos online through Quicktime or Windows Media Player, the video plays in the embedded player and it also gets automatically exported to my TV which is setup as monitor 2 through my video card. Is it possible (via an extension, perhaps?) to get Flash videos to do the same thing?

(I know that both YouTube and Google Video have full-screen options, but this isn't what I'm looking for.)

How do I direct link to an AVI on Google Video? In a thread on the main page about the "Why We Fight" documentary on Google Video, someone posted a direct link that, when clicked, began to download or open the video file.
How does one determine the web address of one of those videos? Right clicking on an image, a photo, will often yeild that advice, but not in that instance.

Did he say "titty" in Russian? What?

This video is ranked #5 on Google Video. What is he saying? What happened that's funny? I don't speak Russian or Polish, or whatever language that is. But my interest is piqued. Whatever faux pas he committed, it must be a doozy. Can anyone translate?

Suzuki Forenza "Elevator" Commercial?

I was riding in an elevator at work when I saw the Suzuki Forenza commercial "Elevator" come on. I'd like to get a copy of the commercial ... ... but I don't see it on YouTube or Google Video. I don't see it on the two locations people recommended to me when I was looking for a commercial before, TVAdVideos (which now seems gone) or AdRag. I'd nevertheless love to get my mitts on ~~her~~ the commercial. However, if a video is completely unavailable, stills would do. (Sorry, but she's purdy in her cycling outfit, h'yuh h'yuh!)

Extra points if it's in a format other than AVI, FLV, or WMV, which my Mac doesn't always appreciate. (It completely chokes on AVIs, FLVs only show in a uber-nasty UI "FLV Player" (I can't get ffmpegX to convert them), and Flip4Mac WMV doesn't like Intel Macs quite yet.)
