Can I search for two separate stores (or whatever) on (New) Google Maps to find not only which location of each is closest to me, but also where the two stores are closest to each other? [more inside]
I'm trying to plot the positions of indoor streetview cameras in x-y coordinates (z not needed.) Google Earth can spit out longitude and latitude (ex: 33 deg 35'3.92"N), and the angle (relative to north) the camera is facing. [more inside]
How can I tell Google Maps and GPS navigation systems that there has been a gate across part of my road since the mid-90s? [more inside]
I'm running Kitkat and Google Maps 7.7. Using the cache feature, I can save a certain area of a map. However, not all of the zoom levels are saved - if I zoom out far enough to encompass the area I want, the more granular zoomed in levels don't get saved properly. I've found this, but it seems that the functionality is no longer available in current versions (and I'd like to avoid sketchy options if possible). At the moment, I'm manually zooming in and caching lots of sections of the map to ensure that all levels are saved, but it's fiddly to do and there's no easy way to ensure that I've covered every section.
Can anyone update the answers to this question about viewing the Google maps I've created (My Maps, My Places, or whatever it's called now) on an iPhone? [more inside]
Hi there, I am interested in balloon mapping an area of London. I want to host the resulting map online but I also want to contextualise it by placing it on top of for instance, a Google satellite map like this. I also want to be able to annotate it with text and photographs taken from the ground. Are there any programmes or online editors that will let me do this? Thanks.
GPX Visualization on Google Maps: I have 300+ GPX files of bike rides that I'd like to be able to link to somehow over a Google Maps base layer, visually approximating this. This is related to my previous AskMe about cycling every road in a town; I need to visualize what roads I have/haven't ridden, and link that progress to a blog. Would like it to be as low-weight as possible; the 300 (uncompressed) GPX files amount to 100+mb currently (route+track+waypoints) and is only getting larger -- vanilla GMaps doesn't play nice with that many files. Much more information inside... [more inside]
No matter how hard I try, Google Maps will not move its incorrect marker for an address of mine. [more inside]
Google Maps' estimates of travel times using the MTR in HK vary wildly from the MTR's own webpage. Ie from Tin Hau to University station, Google says 1hr 24mins incl walking time to Tin Hau, which is maybe 10 mins tops. MTR website says 44 mins for the same journey, not incl walking to station obviously. This discrepancy repeats itself across various planned journeys. Who should I trust?
I feel like it should have been dead-simple to find this, and maybe the fact that it's not means the answer is no--but is it possible to add a waypoint in Google Maps for iOS? That is, I'm driving from A to B, and midway realize I want to stop at, say, Target, and I search and find a Target reasonably nearby. Is there a way to add target as a via destination? I haven't been able to figure it out with a little poking around, and it seems like an ultra basic function to have.
I'm about to submit my first academic journal article for review. The article contains several images / figures and I need to obtain permission to reproduce these before the article goes to print. [more inside]
For the past year I've been trying to bike down every street in St Louis. In the beginning this was easy and wide-open and fun. The middle has been less so. Now, sitting at ≈65% completion [map: zoomable | 1.5mb png | GPX] my current approach has become overwhelming and tedious, and is no longer working; I need to get way smarter about this. How would a programmer, a mathematician, or a GIS/transit specialist approach this endgame, and what tools/software would he/she use? [more inside]
I'm a travel blogger - the sort that tries to give *good* directions to places I've traveled. Here in Thailand, there's no easy way of figuring out the address system (the locals barely seem to use them - and the Thai script is admittedly still a mystery)... The solution has been to snap a picture with my iPhone's built-in camera app, with the GPS turned on. The idea is to provide the GPS coordinates and a URL to those coordinates on Google Maps. This captures the place, but then involves loading it onto the computer, matching up features on Picasa's map to Google Maps, then right-clicking the 'What's Here?' to get the coordinates. What I'd love is a website or an app on the iPhone or for the Mac that can look at a picture and display the GPS coordinates - bonus points if it shows the point on Google Maps... Is there anything like that out there? :)
I need a non-Google Maps alternative, due to limitations in how Google displays My Maps. Mapchannels.com is very flexible, but it has two issues: its display doesn't seem to work for mobile users, and it displays small ads (and has suspended its former policy of letting a map creator pay to remove ads). Other options? [more inside]

When I print out a custom map from Google Maps, it has little blue markers on the places of interest. Then at the bottom, it lists what all the blue markers are. But there's no numbering to say which marker goes with which description(????). As well the description is a single line without addresses. Is there a way to fix this?
Any way to disable the iOS 6 update prompts and badges in the handset without a jailbreak? I have an iPhone 4 and there's no way I'm letting them remove Gmaps.
I did something stupid today and 'updated' my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.0. The new Maps app doesn't include public transportation options (as Google Maps did previously) which I use extensively here in San Francisco. What are my options? Will anything be as seamless as the Google Maps app was?

I have business in the Bloomfield Hills suburb of Detroit in a couple of weeks. Google Maps gives me two routes from the airport car rental to my destination with roughly the same travel time and a third that appears slightly longer. Which is best in terms of ease of navigation for a solo driving Detroit area newb, safe road conditions (especially if it snows), and likelihood that the travel time is accurate (i.e. not prone to massive unexpected delays)?
