Just gave the fiancee her engagement ring. Problem is she has strange reaction. She gets a weird rash/chemical burn looking ring where the ring sits.
The ring is 18karat white gold. Could it be an allergy to the gold? Could it be jewelry polish? What is a new (ignorant) fiancee to do to show her I can solve any problem?

I've got a ring I'd like to sell. It's 14k white gold, about 7g. It's very simple, and somewhat blemished from wearing it and being clumsy and knocking it about. Where would I get the most money for it, and how can I calculate its raw material value (I know the raw price of gold, but being 14k and white...)?

Gold. I'm looking for an interesting read, preferably something short, that explains why gold has the role it has in the global economy and how that role came about. [more inside]

Gold has all sorts of ethical problems, but I have not heard anything about platinum. Is this just because it is rarer and more expensive (so I'm unlikely to come across it), or is it actually a morally better choice?

I have a small but detailed necklace pendant of the buddha cast in silver. How and where can I get an exact replica cast in 24k gold or platinum in NYC? [more inside]

I want to make jewelry! Like, real jewelry. Read: metalsmithing, not putting manufactured beads on wires. What tools should I buy? What books would you recommend? Do I need to take a class or not? [more inside]

ok, so I while back you guys advice and buying a wedding ring. So I got this awesome cool handcarved wedding ring from an antique store. It is 18K gold band with a handcarved design of laurel and berries....but I only got one. So how do I go about getting a duplicate made (larger) that would fit me? I have talked to jewelers and the are very vague. I live in SE MI area.

My fiance and I have been looking for a unique wedding band design and we really like carved and engraved gold but not the stuff that looks like it has just been diamond cut. We found a really nice 1930's french wedding band with laurel on it Here
Any ideas where I could find more designs like this?? We are looking to stick to yellow gold and want something unique.
