I'm an avid user of Gmail and other Google services, but I'm increasingly uncomfortable keeping my entire email history on someone else's servers. Can I keep a week's worth of messages on the server and encrypt everything else? What are some other Gmail privacy compromises?

Gmail just asked me if I wanted to import all my mail from another email account of mine. How can I figure out if I've ever told Gmail I own this account? Or is this just google being creepy as hell again?

I just noticed that when I'm logged in to my gmail account, and open up youtube, my gmail is tied to my youtube watching. What other websites will automatically be tied to my gmail account if I'm still logged in? Is there a list somewhere?

Whenever I'm actively browsing the web, I like to keep a tab open to my Gmail account. But I don't particularly want my Google searches to be linked to the Gmail account. Is there any way to prevent this?
