What should I know before trying to rehabilitate my desk?

The huge pane of glass that was my desk's main surface broke, and I'd like to replace it. The return (also glass) is still in decent shape and I'd like the main desktop to match it as much as possible in hue and the shape of the edge. How much can I expect to pay for a suitable 7'×3' piece of glass, is there anything non-obvious I should ask about, and does anyone happen to know good glaziers in the Cambridge, MA area, or how to look for one besides flipping through Yelp? What do I use to glue plastic that's safe for the inside of a hot car?

I have a bunch of Lego Minifigures in the back window of my car. I live in Los Angeles, and when my car gets too hot, the plastic in the Legos expands and everything starts coming apart. I want to glue each figure together so I'm not constantly having to reassemble them, but I don't want glue that would give off harmful fumes when in those hot car conditions. I've tried basic craft glue so far, but it doesn't seem to last very well in the heat. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Pretty sure a solvent is out of the question.

Can my sunglasses be fixed?

Does anyone have experience with a truly super glue? My sunglasses just snapped in half at the bridge. I've had them forever, so I can't really fault the manufacturer. But they're prescription, and I'd like to avoid having to go out and get a new pair right now if I can help it. Is there a glue in existence that bonds quickly and permanently?

A sticky situation

Blue/white-tac issues. How do I keep my shiz on the walls instead of on the floor? My posters/notices keep falling off my walls. None are particularly heavy paper or strange glossy finishes. Surfaces I want the paper posters to adhere to are either wooden doors or normal painted walls. 75% stay up for months without issue - others fall down on a weekly basis. [more inside]

How can I buy or make this type of cork-wrapped flask?

I'm trying to either buy or make a round-bottomed lab flask with a cork-covered neck. The object of my desire looks like this Kontes Kool-Grip round-bottomed model. Help me reupholster leather desk chair

I have a leather computer desk chair that I got 2 years ago that I really like and they don't sell it anymore, it is very ergonomic. I have tried out other chairs and not found one as good. The leather has torn in several places and I need to reupholster it. I don't want to take it somewhere to be reupholstered becasue a) I don't have the money and B) I would have nothing to sit on while it is in the shop. The thing is I don't know anything about reupholstering , let alone what looks somewhat complicated due to all the panels, in it. I have made a video showing in detail the chair, and the problems with it. I will be very grateful to anyone who can help with with this. This is the video.

Curse of the Jade Bangle

I've broken my favorite piece of a jewelry -- a solid jade bangle. It dropped on the bathroom floor and broke into 2 pieces (pics 1 2). When I put the two pieces together it doesn't look too bad (i.e. I think it was a "clean break" with no additional tiny pieces missing), so I'd like to fix it. Can I do this myself and will it look not horrible? What type of stuff could I use to glue the pieces together? If the answers to the previous questions are no and none, do you know of someone (jeweler/stone person) who could fix it in the DC/MD area? [more inside]

DIY handbag repair

The strap of my handbag broke and I'm looking to repair it but how? As you can see by this photo, the short metal bit fits into the metal cap. But which kind? [more inside]

Please fix this bear's coat. Thank you.

The leather-thing holding it on snapped and one of the toggles has come off my duffle-coat. I have the toggle itself, and I have acquired some spare leather-things, but I'm not sure of the best way to re-attach. I don't have a sewing machine, and I don't think I know anyone who does. I have discovered that a thing called 'Fabric glue' exists, but is it any better than superglue? Will superglue work on wool/leather? I could put a few hand-stitches, but the thickness of both bits of material make me think that I might not be able to do a very good job. [more inside]
