I need recommendations for gloves for walking dogs in bitterly cold, relentlessly windy weather. My apparently unreasonable criteria, in order of importance, within.

In pretty much every detective show I've seen, people at the crime scene wear latex gloves in order to protect any fingerprints that might be around.
My question is, how does this keep fingerprints from smearing? Given that the fingerprints are just oil residue left behind, how does wearing a glove keep the oil from being displaced and ultimately destroying the fingerprint

I'd like to buy my favorite news cameraman some great gloves for Christmas. Something that will keep his hands warm on the 3:00 pm to midnight shift and won't get in the way. Any recommendations?

What's the cutting edge in gloves that allow for high levels of dexterity in extreme conditions (e.g. north pole). A colleague and I have been thinking up creative ways to allow high levels of dexterity while keeping the insulation factor high. Say you're a worker that has to work outdoors in extreme conditions for periods of up to an hour, yet you need to be able to work with hand tools, press buttons, etc.
Is there an industry standard for this sort of thing?
Anyone have any info on state of the art (or near future) technology in this area?

I'm trying to buy some warm gloves that are designed to work with the iphone. In my internet search there seem to be several different brands that work in different ways but few reviews. These are going to be gifts and I need both a man's and a woman's glove and, since both recipients live in cold climates, I want ones where their fingers can stay covered while they operate their iphone. Can anyone point me to a review of these gloves or have any experience to share?

I need to find a variety of gloves for kids, preferably cotton. Not really winter gloves. More of an everyday glove. And variety is key. I tried Etsy, Amazon, Google. Mostly finding wedding or Fancy Ball gloves. How about fake claws? Polka dots? Hoofs?

Looking for water-resistant/proof, wind resistant, and warm mittens or gloves. Versatile enough to be able to drive with, but warm enough for extended walks outside and waterproof enough for snow shoveling, etc. Giant ski mittens are awesome, but somewhat limiting in dexterity.

When ever I go outside during the winter, my hands hurt (a lot). I have warm winter gloves, but I don't like them. I have issues with any clothing items that are bulky so that rules out ski gloves.

I can't seem to find gloves that don't have fingertips, but they do have a mitten "attachment" that can cover your fingertips. (example inside)

I'm born and raised in Southern California. This is a problem when the temperature drops and my excessively warm-blooded body can't handle the cold. I have a pair of fingerless glove inserts from an Army/Navy surplus store, but they're many years old and fairly intrusive anyway.
So I ask: what are the best gloves to wear while typing?
