After a more than 10 year long hiatus spent in the business side of technology, I'm looking to get my hands dirty again. I'd like to find a tutor.

I've been asked to take over booking for a couple local bands. I've done this quite a bit but we function as a venue so it was from the other side. Can you hope me figure this out?

Help me find a quality drum and bass/jungle festival to attend in the next 12-24 months (or a fun city to visit with weeklies/clubs/options for hearing a variety of heavy, bass-driven music... but not so much dubstep). Preferably somewhere in Canada or the U.S.; other ideas welcome, as long as they're worthwhile and not scary-expensive.

I've just graduated with my Master's in Social Work and am waiting to be approved to take the licensing exam in my state. Getting a job without a license is veeeery difficult. Also difficult: paying my bills when I have no income. I know opportunities will present themselves once I'm licensed but...any ideas as to what I can do to make money for a few months in the interim? So far it's babysitting and the food service industry... but is there anything even slightly social service-related I can do part-time? Or just easy, temporary gigs? Get rich quick schemes? Thanks all!

I have a friend attending school in China (studying traditional Tibetan medicine) who needs something to do in mid-December to mid-February when the campus shuts down. He can't work in China, but he would like to earn money somewhere, somehow. But how? and where?

I am on holiday from tomorrow (13th March) to 20th March. I live in London. I have decided to spend my time doing fun things here. My list of fun things begins with seeing the Gerhard Richter exhibition and ends with going to the Science Museum Lates. Does anyone have any suggestions of things/places/gigs/events/parties/fun to go in the middle?

I'm told that for bands, the money is in live gigs - not much comes in from album sales. However. I was at a concert in Los Angeles recently, full house of about 500. Three bands, of which two had recently played Coachella. $25 general admission. This, to me, seems like terrible money. What's really going on? Help me overthink my plate of beans.

I want to buy a small, Mac-compatible digital camcorder. My budget is under $1000. I will be using the camera to shoot videos that I will project when I play gigs with my band. I will probably also use it to film other people's gigs.

Are there any websites where musicians review venues at which they've performed, in terms of staff, crowd, sound system, payment policies, etc.? It seems like there must be, but I've not found anything via Google. In particular I'm interested in reviews of NYC venues.
