Silver Pandora bracelets for teen nieces: Great idea, or old fogie fail? The girls are 14 and 16, in the US. Would this be something cool for them, or is there a new hotness along these lines that would more appreciated? (I'm working from thousands of miles, a different continent – and quite a few decades – away!) [more inside]

I'm looking for Christmas gift ideas for our kids. They are 11, 9, and 6 year old girls.
Specifically, I'm looking for ideas to put together homemade 'kits' that combine multiple items making up a single theme. For example, a calendar making kit with heavy paper setup like an empty calendar for them to number the days, with space for monthly pictures; including markers, stickers, etc.
Or a journal kit with the empty journal, stamps, stickers, etc.
Or a 'game night' kit.
The kit can be for the 3 of them together, or for one of them specifically.

Tween Filter: My twin nieces turn ten in two weeks and my new reputation as the cool auntie is at stake. I know nothing about kid culture. Help me figure out what to give them for their birthdays, please! [more inside]

Is an online gift card (say, to a bookstore) okay as a Christmas gift for early teen girls? Or will the intangible nature of the gift make it seem like I'm not giving them anything at all? [more inside]

Help me find gifts for remarkably un-greedy teenage girls: they are 14 and 15, and absolutely refuse to tell me what they want (I think their mother, my aunt, raised them too well.) [more inside]
