Custom wine bottle and engraved wine glasses as gift? HELP!

I would like to give custom wine glasses and wine with a custom label as a gift to my SO...advice?? I have looked around the internet and have seen several places to get personalized/engraved wine glasses. Riedel seems the most common brand.

I'm just looking for some advice for the best place to get these or other's experience.

I would like the engraving to me two letters/initials but would be interested in having a simple image or saying engraved as well.

Are Riedel wine glasses the brand to go with? I'm looking to spend anywhere from $100-$200.

Additionally, I would like to give a wine bottle with a custom label. Any advice on how to do this? I am pretty artistic and could print something up myself. Can I just soak any bottle of wine in soap and water to remove its label to add mine?

Thanks!

If you want to send someone a classy thank you gift, e.g. wine, chocolates or flowers, what are the best options if all you have in terms of contact info is the person's email address? I don't want to send a gift certificate. I don't want to ask for a street address, because that will be a give away.

I want something along of lines of "Grumblebee has sent you some _____ wine. Click here to redeem." Then they enter their street address and the wine is sent to them.

Recipients are in the U.S., as am I.

Wine Gift Help

Looking for the perfect ~$25 wine-related gift. My friend is turning 21 next week, and I'd like to get her something related to wine. She knows more about it than I do, and for that reason I'm inclined to not just buy her a nice bottle (she can do that herself). I'm looking for a great book, gadget, doo-dad, etc.

I've thought about a rabbit-style wine opener, but she seem perfectly happy with her current corkscrew (plus, at about $40, it's just slightly outside of my price range). But, I'm willing to consider any suggestions.

Lovers

My best friend and I are sake (rice wine) lovers. Not lovers, because he's a guy. And ugly. But he's a great guy and I'd like to buy him some top quality traditional sake and a set of cups and bottle. We've both probably never had good sake, so I'd like a local store where I could go and find a selection of the better ones. Most stores on the Gold Coast, Australia carry Gekkeikan sake, toted as the word's largest selling sake in the world (!), and that's pretty much it. I'm looking near a $100 price tag. Maybe I could get a couple of the better ones and find out what's best?

And for the sake set? Maybe I could buy that online, I've already found some good ones so far but I'm still searching.

Gift Baskets: Ideas and Alternatives?

GiftBasketFilter: I've been tasked with prototyping a holiday-themed gift basket that a high-end car dealership will present to car buyers during the season. The contents of the baskets will be mostly wine and wine-related objects. I'm having difficulty coming up with a presentation that will be "classy" enough to satisfy the audience but easy enough to mass-produce. Have you ever received a gift-basket-type thing you really liked? Whether basket, box, bowl or bag, I'd love and very much appreciate some suggestions on presentation for a wine-heavy gift assortment.

Anything that could be purchased in Alberta, Canada or online in relatively short order would be terrific; non-denominational "winter holiday" type themes would be best, but full-on Christmas stuff won't be ignored. Most of the gift content is already established, but if you have any ideas along those lines, I'd be glad to know them.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Pick Me a Wine!

Wines: Help me pick one that will be nicely aged in five years. I'm buying my brother a wedding present, and my girlfriend and I would like to buy him a bottle of wine or port that will hit its taste peak in 5 years. We are not sure about what kind of wine they like to drink, but we are looking to spend around a $100-$150. (It sounds like various red wines are the ones that age anyway) Suggestions?

Wary of bringing gifts to Greeks....

What booze to give the Greek relatives? I'm going to Greece next week for an extended stay, during which I'll be meeting some family members I haven't seen in years. I'd like to bring them a gift. I was thinking chocolates for the children, but I'm drawing a blank on gifts for the adults. Wine or liquor sound fairly safe, but I have no idea what Greeks consider "good" alcohol. Glenfiddich? Stolichnaya? I'm not a big drinker, so it's hard for me to just pick something out of the vast array of alcoholic beverages out there. If anyone has any recommendations for what might be good wine or liquor to bring, or any other suggestions for non-alcoholic gifts, I'd greatly appreciate your advice.

A port wine to drink in 20 years

I would like to buy a bottle of port wine as a baby gift [per suggestion of AskMeFi] for some friends but I don't know anything about wine really. I'd like something that would be opened in about 20 years. Does anyone have a few suggestions of a bottle of port that would be suitable for this gift. Bonus points if avail at Costco.

tokaj recommendations?

Tokaj/Tokaji. I'm buying a gift for some friends who are Tokaj afficionados, and would love some recommendations for excellent Tokaj wines (ideally Hungarian or Czech rather than French/Italian Tokay or Tocai wines). They prefer the sweeter wines (5+ puttonyos) and it would be swell if I could find a 2001 vintage, as it's a 5th anniversary gift.

Which online retailers will ship a bottle of bubbly to Hawaii?

I'm looking to send a bottle of bubbly to some newlyweds in Hawaii (Maui), however they're not staying at a fancy resort with this kind of amenity, so I figured I'd send something directly to their cottage.

I'm looking for a site like wine.com (they don't ship to Hawaii) where you can buy a bottle online and ship it directly, or a winery who does the same thing.

Nice wine glasses

I'm looking for some nice wine glasses to give as a gift. I've heard recommendations for Reidel glasses, but there seem to be quite a range even within the brand, and I have no idea what the difference is between the diffent lines. I've seen other brands displayed as well, but again, have no idea what the difference is! This is a gift for someone who drinks predominately red wine, and would be using it more for everyday rather than entertaining, so something simple in style would be best. Price is not really a factor, I'm willing to spend if the quality is worth it. Suggestions appreciated, bonus points if accompanied by where to buy in Toronto.

I need some wine for my dad

Can anyone recommend a good place from which to order a "wine-basket" as a gift for my father? My dad's birthday is coming up, and I thought a good gift might be a few interesting bottles of wine. He knows about wine, and prefers reds to whites. I'd like to get him something unique, and ideally packaged attractively (because of time constraints, I'll need to have the vendor send it to him directly). He's in the US, and my budget is around $100. Any ideas?

So I've been struggling with the christmas present issue - What to get for my parents? Does anyone have this device or an equivalent wine tool?
