Non-Union Square Xmas gift for my mom?

I was a dolt and missed the deadline to ship my Mom's potential Christmas gift to my parent's house before I left town. So now I'm left with one weekend in NYC to find her something pretty for the home that's also small enough to fit in a carry-on suitcase. I need recommendations for classy, inexpensive stores in NYC that carry unique and/or handmade bowls, candle holders, tableware, etc for under $80. The centerpiece was sort of perfect for my Mom, but I can live (sob) with a substitute. Other possible gifts I considered from the same online store were this tray and this bowl, but alas, they won't make it to the house in time unless I shell out another $40 for 2-day shipping.

I swear I tried my darnedest to find a relevant question from the Ask.Metafilter annals, but nothing popped up. I know NYC has tons of stores like this, but many are very expensive or dull.

Thanks in advance!

The gift that stops giving not long after being received.

Giftfilter: What are your favorite consumables that are only available in NYC/on the East Coast? My sister, who is trying to own fewer things, has requested a Christmas present that can be used up. She lives in the western U.S. and I live in Brooklyn, so I'm looking for foods and other consumable things that aren't readily available where she is. I'll be buying the gift at least 4 days before Christmas and taking it on the plane with me, so it needs to last at least that long and be able to withstand a flight, though I'll be checking a bag so liquids should be ok. Price range around $30, per our family gift-exchange rules.

Her tastes are pretty eclectic in terms of food and entertainment: she likes most sweets and junk foods, though she's somewhat health conscious and doesn't drink alcohol. My fallback gift plan is some Peanut Chews and a Netflix gift certificate, but surely I can do better than that.

Customizing an I-Am-Not-A-Paper-Cup.

I'd like to have a drawing, which I have as a jpeg, printed onto a porcelain I am not a Paper Cup. Does anyone know where I can have this done in NYC? This is to be a gift for a coworker. It would be perrrrrrfect, so I hope it can be done.

Somewhere below 50th in Manhattan and Williamsburg, BK would be ideal, but I can be a little flexible if necessary. The main thing is that it either be open on weekends or in midtown close to my office.

Thanks for your suggestions!

And no, an I [heart] NY shirt won't do...

NYCFilter: I'm in NYC for training for another 36 hours or so, and would like to find a nice, but not-too-expensive anniversary gift for my wife before I head home. Where should I go? Specific stores or general areas, either one. I can do something in the $50 to $100 range; and I don't really have too many preconceived notions about what I want to get. Something original, not something from a chain store that I can find at home, and not something huge that I can't fit in my suitcase. I'm in midtown Manhattan, but I'm comfortable taking the train just about anywhere within Manhattan (or even Brooklyn). Bonus for things that would be open later tonight, since I won't get out of training until 5ish.
Chocolates are overdone; lingerie and clothing for a larger woman (size 18-20) are possibilities, but wouldn't be able to be used for a while since she's 8 months pregnant at the moment. Cool baby and kid boutiques would be excellent, because I could get a "new-baby" gift as well as something for my 2-year-old. Otherwise, anyplace I can go with shops that have things that an educated 30-ish stay-at-home-mom might like would be cool.
(Yes, I know this is vague, but I'm too tired to be inspired right now.)

Shops in Manhattan that sell canvas grocery bags?

Shops in Manhattan that sell canvas grocery bags? Do you have any suggestions for brick and mortar stores in NYC that have a selection of cute canvas bags?

As part of a Christmas gift I wanted to buy a cute canvas reusable grocery bag as part of the present wrapping. But I'm an epic procrastinator, and have only two days before I fly out to deliver said gift. So my original plan to order from someone on Etsy won't work.

Specifics:

- doesn't have a store name/logo printed on it (so Wholefoods and Trader Joes are out)

- some sort of colors or design/screen print on it (not just a plain beige bag)

- doesn't look like I bought it at a head shop

I know the exact store I'm picturing must exist somewhere on the island (or even a brief trainride outside of the island). Help me!

Clap Your Hands Say Light

GiftFilter: Where can I buy The Clapper in Manhattan? I'm trying to find a (gag) gift for my better half -- I'm looking for the infamous Clapper. I'm sure there's gotta be a store out there, but I'm not sure where, and the few joke stores that I called don't have them. Help me, New Yorkers!
