Need a cute "yay I'm glad we've been dating for 6 months!" gift or card idea. Been dating a guy for 6 months, it's totally casual, but he's sweet and fun and appreciates thoughtful things, so I'd like to make him or get him a card or something for < $10 just to say "I'm glad we're dating and you're a lot of fun." For example, back in March I made him a "happy steak + blowjob day" card and he LOVED it. I'd like something just as lighthearted and flirty (or dirty, that's totally OK too!), and preferably something that can be left in his mailbox (don't worry it won't be creepy, we've done stuff like that before), or I was thinking something that looks like a parking ticket to put on his windshield.

Any suggestions?

He's into rock climbing and biking. But it doesn't have to be about that at all.

Is a gift card to a buy-in-bulk type store a tacky gift to give to hosts? A relative and his wife offered me their couch over the weekend (I flew out of my state and into theirs for an event we were all attending).
They were awesome hosts. They made sure my every need was met and answered any questions before I even though of them. They drove me everywhere and took me out to eat for many meals and cooked as well.

I'll be sending them a thank you card as well as some local treats. I'd like to also give them something more substantial. I was thinking a gift card.
Throughout the weekend they frequently mentioned their love for one of those buy-in-bulk stores. They visited the store twice over the 3 days I was there.

Is this a tacky or inappropriate gift?

Some other info/thoughts:
I'm in the "Gift cards make great birthday, Christmas, and graduation gifts" boat... so, to me, gift cards in general are not tacky. I don't know how I feel about this particular situation.

If the card is an appropriate gift is $75 a decent amount? I'm hoping it would be somewhat equivalent to the expenses they incurred for the 3 days while I was their guest.

Gift card and Chapter 7

I have a nontrivial balance on a gift card for a local retailer that has gone out of business and is filing Chapter 7. What are my options? I received a gift card for several hundred dollars to a local bike shop a few months ago and have been slowly using it -- too slowly as it turns out. Over the last few weeks I stopped by a few times trying to make a purchase but the shop was closed even though it was during normal business hours. I didn't think much about it because all the inventory was still there and I assumed it was probably a personal situation or something.

I finally tried calling and found that their phone was disconnected, and then I found their web site dead too. Through Google and archive.org I was able to find the owners' names and email addresses. I sent a polite inquiry about how to liquidate my balance and received no reply. After further research I found one owner's phone number and spoke to her this afternoon. She told me that they were going through Chapter 7 (it wasn't clear to me if they've filed yet) and that she had forwarded my email to their attorney.

I got their attorney's contact information and am waiting for him to return my call, but I would like to know what my prospects are for recovering the balance and if anyone can recommend a strategy to improve them.

Transaction Expired?

Should I be worried about this transaction? [more inside] On 4/21 I purchased a virtual visa card at www.www-card.com with a Commerce Bank check card. The virtual visa was activated and used completely without issue. Commerce's website showed a pending transaction for the correct amount but then it was removed today from the pending transactions (and nothing got posted to the history). No money was deducted from my account. I called Commerce and asked them about it and they said that the funds "expired" for the merchant because they did not take it. I asked if this could somehow bite me later on and he said no since the money was available to them but they did not get it in time.

Should I be worried that mobsters are going to show up at my house demanding payment with the juice running?

I'm in the US, and I'd like to buy an Amazon gift certificate for someone in the UK... This is a belated wedding present; they had a wedding registry on amazon.co.uk, but it's been taken down since the wedding happened a month ago.

I've looked through gift card help and rules & regulations as well as help sections on Amazon.com, but I can't determine if I can just go to Amazon.co.uk and purchase a gift card in British pounds using my American Visa debit card. Will that even work? Will my bank (Wachovia) freak out if it gets a charge in pounds? Will they charge me a service fee for converting my bank account's dollars into pounds?

Help and suggestions appreciated. I searched through lots of other threads about buying gift cards for family and friends abroad, but didn't find any specific answers about payment.

Swapping a Gift Card

I received a $50 gift card from my parents for Christmas. From Sears. I think the intention was that I would buy underwear and socks. I'd like to swap it for one from a book store, but all the gift card swapping sites seem suspicious or they take too big of a fee. Recommendations?
