BEFORE the First Protocol was added? In the original Geneva Convention of 1949, the definition of a 'Protected Person' seems limited in its application, depending on a civilian's nationality, if their country of origin maintains diplomatic relations with the country they are in, and a labyrinthine of other factors.
My fiancee and I will be in Geneva this weekend and next, and will have time each Saturday to do stuff. So what should we do? We've been to the city before but never really did much beyond attending conferences and eating right around the train station area. We are interested in historical/cultural activities or just walking around and looking at things. We also welcome restaurant suggestions.
Where would you go in France if you had a week to get from Paris to Geneva? My husband and I (early 30s) are planning a trip and am not sure how to fill that space or where to go. We would prefer trains to renting a car, and the only restriction is that we'd like to spend a night or two in Annecy. [more inside]

We've got to get a hire car back to the airport in Geneva tomorrow at 11, but our flight doesn't leave till 4. This gives us 3-4 hours or so to have fun. One of us is 5 years old. What should we do? Cheap is good.
I'm going to be in Geneva, Switzerland on business in a couple of weeks, and am interested in picking up a watch there. Any recommendations of where to look for something not crazy expensive? [more inside]
I'm staying with friends on the border between Switzerland and France for about six weeks this summer and would like to find a school that offers intensive French lessons. Ideally I would leave for France sometime in the beginning of June and stay until mid-July, though my dates are flexible. I speak intermediate level French now and would be willing to come into a course a little late, if necessary. Thanks!
Three days in Geneva 25/26/27th March. Smashing atoms during the day. What to do in the evening?

Time to kill in the Finger Lakes area (Geneva, Seneca Falls, Canandaigua) and what shall I do? I've already got the National Women's Hall of Fame and the Drain Tile Museum (yes, really) on the schedule, anyone know anything else that might be good for a couple of hours?
I will be at a conference in Lausanne, Switzerland next week. When the conference is over, I have a few days before I have to fly home. I think I'd like to rent a motorcycle and spend that time riding in the mountains. Does anyone have any recommendations for going about this? Should I try to rent the bike ahead of time, or just do it once I'm there? Can I expect to find a place that will rent bikes in Lausanne, or should I plan on going back to Geneva to get one?
