In the early spring I severely pruned some very large and very old Yew bushes. I cut them down to old wood, with no remaining green growth. I had heard they were hardy and would sprout from old wood, but it's been over a month now and I've still just got a bunch of shrub-shaped brown sticks out there. Did I kill them? [more inside]
When we rented our current flat, it came with a front garden that we are supposed to take at least minimal care of -- weeding and pruning, that kind of thing. The problem is, we haven't the faintest idea how to weed or prune or ... anything else. Help! [more inside]
When and how should I prune my very sad weeping pussy willow? [more inside]
I have long-term custody of a potted citron tree that's a year or two old. It seems to be doing OK, but the central stem/trunk doesn't have any leaves at the top of it: Photo of the tree here. Should I prune the top of the trunk? If so, when and how? Is there any other pruning I should be doing at this point in its growth?
I planted a young pear tree about 2 years ago, and neglected to prune it over-winter when you're supposed to. It now looks a bit like a backwards "r" (photographic evidence). Should I prune it now? Or should I wait till winter? And how should I go about pruning it? It seems to have one long central (very bent) trunk and not many side branches at the moment.
