I have a small porch and I would like to have some pretty flowers growing on it now that it's finally warming up. However, every time I've tried achieve this in the past, it has ended in dead plants and wasted money. I need help with this of the most remedial sort.

I need recommendations for small trees, or bushes or shrubs or something, that absolutely won't grow taller than two metres high, can handle dry conditions (Australian summers) and temperatures between -5 and +40 Celsius. Ideally they should either have pretty flowers or produce something edible (but not citrus, I have enough of those already). Needs to be available in Canberra.

I need a fairly cheap, hard to kill, awfully pretty plant that comes in a 6-pack or more of bedding plants. And would be happy in a small pot.

We have a house with exactly zero flowerbeds (or landscaping in general for that matter) and it has no curb appeal whatsoever. THIS SHALL NOT STAND! I have some experience gardening, but creating beds from scratch seems a bit major at first glace. Help me make new flowerbeds, and help me make a good plan for our new beds.

I saw some potted flowers on someone's front gate and I would like to know what they are. They were bright pink, shaped like impatiens, but the leaves were a uniform and solid dark maroon/purple. They were sort of the same color as maple leaves before they turn in the fall. Unfortunately, I could not get a picture of the plant, and I have been looking at images of impatiens and other flowers all night with no luck. Green thumbs of AskMe, do you have any ideas?

I'm thinking of replacing my lawn with artificial grass or some other thing that doesn't require constant upkeep. I'd like to hear your experiences with such horticultural matters.

I find myself responsible for a semi-large, quite varied chunk of landscaping. Shrubs, flowers, trees, you name it. I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Where can I find help?
