How does living in an area with near-constant overcast skies affect the placement of plants that are labeled "Full Sun", "Part Sun/Part Shade" or "Shade"? [more inside]
My flower bed gets full sun in Summer, full shade in Winter, and plenty of dog pee. What can I plant? [more inside]
I've never had a garden before. I recently bought a house in Canberra with a small established garden, mainly native Australian plants. It has a drip watering system. There isn't a lot of room, but there are a few things I have always wanted to grow, and I've got no idea whether it is possible to fit them in somehow, or where I should put them. I know I can't do anything until just before spring, but I want to start planning now. [more inside]
Pop-up canopy/gazebo or crank- out awning (like Sunsetter)? [more inside]
How do I grow food and be more sustainable in a shady city apartment? [more inside]
Shade-tolerant plants! I have a small raised bed outside my door which is in deep shade, under a large white pine tree. I'm in coastal New Hampshire, Zone 5, somewhat moderated by the ocean effect. The soil is on the acidic side but is easily augmented. It's quite moist. I don't need veggies because I grow them in a community garden, but herbs would be nice, or just ornamental things. Any ideas as to what might grow?
I need some help constructing a shadecloth/tarp type thing for the backyard. [more inside]
