My goal is to get up to speed -- and then keep up with -- the art, design, architecture, and fashion scenes in Stockholm. I moved here recently and am curious if people can recommend galleries, museums, and anything else I should follow for interesting shows, interesting new artists, speaker tours, that sort of thing, ideally relating to the above, but I'm also open to anything else :) In a bigger city like London or NY there are obvious tons of galleries and museums that constantly have great exhibits...I don't expect Stockholm to be at that level, but people always talk about "Swedish design" and I am curious to get into it, as well as art and architecture. I realize that leaves it open but mainly I care about galleries, museums, and other spaces where innovative creation is being displayed, and less about the medium (though architecture, photography, and haute cotoure type fashion are three specific interests...though you wouldn't know it from how I dress :). I think this question is a bit rambly but hopefully the "spirit" of it was conveyed.
Thanks in advance!

Nightlife recommendations in Quito outside of Mariscal Sucre. Travelling with my sister and our significant others in Ecuador and Galapagos for a few weeks in June. We will have a few nights here and there in Quito. I am looking for Nightlife and restaurant recommendations outside of Mariscal Sucre where we are staying. Music, galleries, etc. Thanks Me-fites.

I need a photography portfolio website for myself. I already maintain smugmug and flickr sites, but these are mainly used for works in progress and special projects. Not final collections.
I want something that is simple, elegant and easy to manage, supporting three or four galleries with limited numbers of images and an about page. I've looked into Joomla with Joom:Gallery and it all seems too much, overkill and means I'd have to become a web gal again. Should I bite the bullet and learn Joomla or another CMS, hire a designer or is there a service that "keeps it simple" and without their own branding?

I am an amateur photographer with 1) a subscription-based online portfolio, 2) a desire to take more control over my site, 3) a sense of reckless abandon, and 4) virtually no experience with, or understanding of, the inner workings of the modern internet. I'd like a really simple site on my domain to hold galleries of my images and a blog. Can I get there from here? How?

I've been asked by a family member to set up a small business site to be used for displaying images of products for sale. As I don't really want to get too involved, I need a CMS that's easy to use and maintain and figured WordPress to be a good fit. However, I'm having trouble finding just the right image gallery behaviour.

I've recently visited the
Galleria Doria Pamphilj in Rome, and there I discovered gallery walls ordered in a very crowded grid, "a grid that is typical to the 18th century", according to the audio guided tour.
I tried looking for further material on such wall arrangements, the history of curation, perhaps, or the concept of Grid in the practice of gallery curation. I've found none.
Can you recommend any leads (books/links) for learning such a subject?

I'm looking for blogs written personally (at least in part) by eminent figures in the visual arts - artists, collectors, curators, museum directors, gallery owners. Preferably those who have been working continuously for some decades, since the 1960s or 70s for example. Any suggestions?

I am looking for a sample gallery pack for use in testing uploading images in web applications. I would like to download a zip of copyright free images that meet a variety of qualifications, the prime one being that all of the pictures must not be offensive or weird to clients, in the same way that Lorum Ipsum text is used as a non nonsensical but useful placeholder for the layout of a web application.

Is there a website that can allow me to make a personalized webpage (similar to iGoogle) full of pictures, like a simple image gallery, and all I have to do is add link to the picture? I don't want thumbnails, I want the page to be scrollable and all pictures at 100%. This is for personal use only. I am too lazy to save pictures to my disk and make this in Dreamweaver, then upload for every picture, etc etc.

I am an oil painter. I have a friend who is (was) a gallery owner (G). The gallery owner knew I am in touch with an esteemed oil painter (E) and arranged to have a two man show with E and another local (venerated) painter. Unbeknownst to E the G is/was in serious financial trouble. E had a gallery for a decade and had a decent reputation. Well, E's show went up and 3 paintings were sold. The other artist had 2 paintings sell. I know E trusted G largely because he felt if I was involved G is a good guy. (The "contact" type of arrangement). G's gallery has now closed and I have helped in final details as a volunteer as G has no staff. I consider G a friend..he has helped me as an artist.

I live in Madison WI and am looking to move to a larger city, under the impression that being in a larger city will provide me with more exposure and greater opportunities. I was thinking of moving to the outskirts of Chicago because it's close to my family in Madison and I love it there. I also miss Denver CO where I was born, but am unsure what kind of an art community it has. Does anyone know what cities are best for making a living as an artist? I have a degree in illustration but am also trying to get into gallery shows as well if that helps. Thank you very much for any advice.

A friend has asked for my help designing a site to sell access to photo galleries and videos (yes, porn). The way he'd like it to work is this: on the main page, you see a list of models. You click one and see that model's available galleries and videos, with some sample images and video clips. You then purchase (via credit card) access to the galleries and videos you want, rather than the usual porn subscription model.
Can anyone recommend a CMS for this sort of thing? I'm at a loss.
