I’m writing a piece on the digital divide in the field of digital art, approaching the question of how museums and galleries can promote inclusion and diversity in the work they showcase when access to digital technologies is far from universal. I’m looking for research material related to these questions. [more inside]
A series of questions about what happens behind the scenes of a museum. How does an idea turn into an exhibit, and who ultimately approves its content? [more inside]
Recently we purchased a watercolor by an artist, who we discovered was originally from Wisconsin. During the 1930s he spent time in California working as an artist before returning to Madison, Wisconsin, where he spent his final years (1940s-1970s). We really like the artist's life story and artwork and would like to find more of his paintings. But, he's very obscure, help? [more inside]

My wife and I will be in Stockholm for a few days in June, staying with some friends in Kungsholmen before traveling the countryside with them by car. Nights we'll be with them, but we'll have some time in the days to explore Stockholm on our own. We have guidebooks to find all the major attractions, etc.--but hoped you could give some advice on fun places to go, or things to see, street kiosks to buy lunch, etc. that don't make it into guidebooks. Quirky is a plus! [more inside]

Where should I stay in Amsterdam and what should I check out? I'm going to Amsterdam for two days and two nights the first week of January. I am a 26 year old single lesbian who is very interested in checking out the local hotspots for gay women and also visiting some art galleries. I would like to see some unusual art installations and/or performance art while I am there. Thank you! : ) [more inside]

Art museum painting framing question. A common style of framing in art museums --- especially with abstract paintings such as Cy Twombly and Mark Rothko's works --- involves a thin strip of wood around the edge of a painting, perhaps with a few-millimeter gap between the edge of the canvas and the inner edge of the wood. The strip of wood is usually flush with the face of the painting. That's all there is to it. I would like to replicate this effect with some paintings I have. [more inside]

I seem to remember in the last month or so there was a question about simple scripts or html that could be used to set up a simple picture gallery with clickable thumbnails? I thought I bookmarked it , but I gues not, and I can't seem to find the thread by searching.
Typepad photo galleries: how do you get your photos to appear in the desired order? I don't always want them ordered by date taken or date uploaded, but there aren't any other options. I end up having to make fake dates for them all. Until that glorious day when Typepad implements a drag-and-drop ordering system, any suggestions?
NYC Galleries Tomorrow? Taking the early Accela from Boston, getting into Penn Station at 11:30. Hitting the new MOMA for some art absorbtion - but are there other things / galleries that I should hit before the Pixies show? I'm meeting up with a friend @ 5:30 who's treating me to the concert. I'll be staying through the next noon, so that's also an option for hunting.
