Just returned from fabulous 2 week holiday in New York. I Brought back Epson Artisan 800 All-in-One Printer from Staples costing $230. Unfortunately, I cannot use it in U.K., unless I plug voltage converter/transformer products. Has anyone else bought this set over there with more success?
Any advice \ information appreciated.
Please specify me What exact voltage converter product to buy & where to buy it from USA online store. Thanks. [more inside]

I'm putting together a tech wishlist to build the ultimate internet-enabled home (or at least to drool over building it). I'd like your recommendations on the best consumer electronics devices to carry out home-bound computer-related tasks outside the computer (in the same way the Philips VOIP841
phone makes Skype calling simple without a computer). Suggested areas: internet radios, real live news tickers, world thermometers, internet TV boxes, but I'm also interested in whatever other fields you can suggest. Your ideas/experiences welcome, wireless or wired.

I'm going on a 10+ day bike ride and want to be able to use my fantastic Nokia 6110
(with built in GPS) and my ipod Nano as long as possible. I bought a cheap solar panel charger on ebay and have found that it's useless. What are the best solutions? So far under consideration are better solar, a spare battery for the phone and emergency chargers that can be recharged when I can get to mains power.
The 'name brand' solar chargers around, the solio
and the freeloader
also have negative reviews
. The Freeplay 12V
looks cool, but has also got some pretty poor reviews
(but at least it looks like it works).
What would you recommend?

Teen daughter wants the iTouch for Christmas. Other than the purchase price, what other fees apply? Is this thing gonna cost me a monthly fee to access the Internet--which is what she really wants to do.

Now that Lik-Sang is dead, where do I turn if I want to import games, or even better, electronic gadgets, computers and such. There was one big site I remember seeing (but, of course, can't remember the URL) that seemed to have quite a few laptops and cameras. Where do you import your gadgetry and games (to the US)?

I just bought a Garmin Forerunner 205
. I love it, it's neat, wow, awesome. But I use an Apple and the software isn't compatible. Can someone walk me through how I can get my PowerBook to recognize the unit (and download the data) when I plug it in via USB and if there are any programs I can use that are similar to the "Training Center" software included?

I'm looking for a box/cupboard/whatever that can store all my household electronic bits and bobs (ipods, moblie phones, PDA, digital camera etc) in one place without them, the cables and the accessories getting tangled up. I've thought those junk drawer organisers with lots of different sized compartments might work, but they're not big enough and I'd prefer something stand alone. Something that could accommodate a multi-plug socket and hide all the cables would be even better. Any ideas?

I'm a TiVo owner and Mac OSX user, and I'd like to the ability to transfer upcoming (and some currently saved) programs from my Tivo (Series 2, 80hour) to my Mac. I have DSL that comes into an Apple Air Port.
What's the best way to do this? (Or is the easiest thing to buy an external DVD recorder on my TV and record stuff that way?) I just want to occasionally share a clip with non-TiVo-owning friends/colleagues that they should see.

I really like the sound of the intro guitar on Modest Mouse's song "Worm vs. Bird." It's a sort of compressed, almost tubular sound. I am an electric guitar n00b. Is this sound somewhat replicable with a simple pedal purchase, or do I have to go buy some obscure vintage guitar and run it through a tube amp built by elves or something?

Yes, I know that the m:robe 100 isn't *officially* Mac compatible, but it's so sweet looking (fine, fine: "pretty"), that I'm sure somebody has hacked it together to work for the finer 10% of computer users out there... Has anybody had any luck with using the m:robe 100 on a Mac running (specifically) OS X.4.1?

I'm going to be in San Francisco for a conference from 3/14-->3/18, but sadly not the emerging technology conference. Anyway, I was wondering if there is anything like Japan's Akihabara--some sort of dense flea market with strange gadgets and such, that I might visit.
Any sort of robot-themed "performance" involving flammable materials would be cool too, but I've heard that Survival Research Labs isn't allowed to play in the city any longer.
In short, what would be some cool geeky/techy things to do while there that might not be available elsewhere and won't land me in jail? [more inside]
