We are redoing a bathroom. We need a wooden vanity cabinet that is made with plywood, not particle board or furniture board. Ideally we need this within the next few weeks. We have a sink top, just need the cabinet. Everything at Home Depot was particle board. We are in Morris County NJ, north central Jersey. Any suggestions, ideas?
My husband came into our relationship with a very expensive Stickley (not antique) dining table. It doesn't match any of our furniture, it's too big for our space, and it also comes with some bad memories from his previous marriage. We'd love to sell it, but can't seem to find a buyer. We've had no bites on Craigslist (other than scammers), no luck with an estate sales company, and when I check completed listings on eBay, I see that similar tables don't sell, new or used. What are we missing? [more inside]
Just moved, got to my new apartment, only to find movers lost one piece of this end table (Target link) - namely one of the plastic feet. I have everything else. Any way to get/buy a single plastic foot for the table? Ideas? I couldn't even discern the manufacturer from the Target website.
My favorite tree went down in a huge storm here in Brooklyn and I recovered a log from it to turn it into a stool. It has been sitting on the ground for at least 3 weeks, but looks good, no rot. I did see some bugs and there is definitely dog pee on it. How should I clean it, make sure the bugs are out and then seal it up (polyurethane I assume). I'm a total novice at this and could use some advice!

We have six Herman Miller Aeron chairs in varying states of disrepair in our office. Some need new parts and a couple don't tilt or raise properly, etc. Some were bought new and some were bought secondhand, and everything I've found online says to take them to a dealer, which I'd like to avoid (hassle, having no chairs for a while, etc). I'd like someone to come over and diagnose them and replace parts and/or fix them on-site (I'm in Manhattan). Anybody know a service that does this?
I'm really intrigued by the idea of a variable height sit/stand desk, but for a couple reasons, I'm probably stuck with my current utterly inconspicuous, heavy wood composite desk. Fortunately, the top comes off, so I think I might be able to modify the desk so that I can raise/lower the top independently of the rest of the desk. What kind of hardware would I need, and where can I buy it? [more inside]
Furniture ideas for the perpetually mobile. For better or for worse, I've been changing living spaces about every six months. I'm sick of lugging furniture but don't want to live completely out of boxes. What are your ideas for cheap, compact, very mobile solutions for (at least) a desk, dresser, and full-size bedframe that doesn't require a box spring? Bonus points for book storage ideas and organizational pieces. Real furniture or makeshift (i.e. tupperware bins) OK. [more inside]
How do you get brown spots out of white furniture? We have white dresser drawers that we just bought my daughter. They are high end wood dressers from a company called Pulaski. There is some kind of laminate on it because it is very smooth. We put a CD player on top of it and on the bottom of the CD Player there are little rubber like pads on it so that it will not scratch furniture. It is a common, regular CD player and the pads look common enough. Our own clock radio in our bedroom has the same kind of rubbery pads on the bottom. So anyway, it has been very humid, and within a week of buying this expensive set, I saw brown stains in the shape of the round rubbery pads on the dresser. How do I get them out? [more inside]

My roommate has a rather nice piece of wooden furniture that my cats have scratched all up. It's real wood, basically just stained and maybe somehow varnished. What are my options for restoring it and how much are they likely to cost? (She is aware of the damage, so it's not like a sneak job.) [more inside]
