I've apparently been gifted with a couch and a chair from relatives in Victoria and I need to figure out the best way to get them to the Fraser Valley. Are there any movers that will move such a small number of items for a not-crazy price?

I want a piece of cheap furniture, specifically
this Fredrik desk from Ikea. Difficulty: I live around 280 miles from the nearest Ikea. Even if I wanted to pick one up, I drive a small car. What to do?

This is a two-parter, the first part being about shipping furniture from Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Portland, Oregon, and the second part being about consignment or mid-century modern antique shops in the Jonesboro/Little Rock/Memphis area...

Our furniture's fate hangs in the balance. In one month, we move on a shoestring. our shipment is too small too interest moving firms. Does anyone know how to get four pieces of furniture from Texas to Washington without blowing our budget?

My Mom is selling her house, moving to a new place and given me an ultimatum. She says I have one year to get my crap from her or it is no longer mine. As a result, I need to ship a large, antique, wooden cabinet 2,000+ miles. It probably weighs about 100 lbs. How can this be accomplished for a reasonable cost? What is a reasonable cost for this type of job? How do you protect the piece of furniture during shipping? Are there any companies you have worked with and recommend?

I have the opportunity to acquire some nice furniture from my folks, stuff I'd (as a student) could never afford. I don't know how to drive, nor do I have friends who would help with this. I'm looking for people who shipped things like 45lbs office chairs and large wooden desks to recommend a freight carrier that will pick up in boston and drop off in baltimore. Or even suggest a moving company. Basically, I know what to look for, I just want anecdotes and recommendations on the best (read: cheapest, I can wait a week so long as it gets here cheap) way to do this. As far as budget goes, I'd like to not spend more than $200 and if I can do it for $100 I'll be ecstatic.
