I've had athlete's foot for 5-6 months now, but I didn't recognize and start treating it until more recently. I've tried multiple treatments for the last several weeks, and while some symptoms have improved, the infection seems like it's still spreading. How long can athlete's foot take to heal when a treatment is actually working? When should I conclude that my OTC treatments are not working and it's time to see a doctor? [more inside]
Harmonica hygiene filter: A few years ago I was given a beautiful Hohner Chromonica 280C. Stories of fungus buildup in reeds (and later becoming aware of certain facts about previous owners) led to doubts which always prevented me from using it. So, how hygienic is it actually? [more inside]

I have some chronic patches of ringworm and seem to get new patches very easily. I have been treated multiple times by doctors with creams and one six-week course of oral antifungals. I wrestle, play in the dirt, and pet dogs, so I will continue to get exposed. Will ammonia oxidizing bacteria help? [more inside]

Two potted plants in my yard just came down with a freaky ... fungus? Cat vomit? Spider nest? It's a crust about 1-2" thick. It was on the top of one plant pot and around the base of another. Pictures (and a spider-related joke) inside. [more inside]
I'm looking for a UK-oriented fungus identification online group or guide or website or book or Android app. Recommendations based on personal experience are most welcome. Poking around online has led me to a few places, like Mycokey, but either the varieties aren't listed or I'm just rubbish at describing what I've found. [more inside]
What can I do with common and grey morels?
Just unwrapped my recently delivered William Baffin rose, to discover a lot of clumpy white and green mould or fungus all over the roots. This is the first rose I've planted, so I have no idea if this is normal (nitrogen nodules?) or if it is, as my instincts say, a very unhealthy thing (kill it with fire). [more inside]
My family's been living in this house for about ten years, and early on I noticed we had a fairy ring on the property. When our kids were little, they loved the fairy ring and asked me to mow around it, which I've done for the past six or seven years. This year I noticed that it seemed to expand. Since I don't cut it, there's a circle of longer grass from last year inside of where the fairy ring showed up this spring, as if the ring grew a little bit larger. I also noticed a smaller fairy ring, about a quarter of the size, seemed to be growing about fifteen yards away. I guess what I'm wondering is, by not mowing over the fairy ring, are we helping it get bigger, maybe even spawning baby fairy rings? What do you know about the care, feeding, and life cycle of the domesticated fairy ring? [more inside]
I have toenail infection and I feel my feet also have a bad smell. I am seeing tommorow a podiatrist but I am reluctant to accept antiviral treatment cause it affects the liver. What is your experience? Did you remove the nail?
Last night I consumed some Marijuana, which upon further inspection, seems to be rather moldy. After researching the types of mold that it could be, and the effects of that mold, I am rather worried that I may have given myself a rather dangerous fungal infection. I do not have health insurance. I need to try to figure out what to do, please help! Anyone who knows about medicine or fungi would be especially appreciated! [more inside]
My brother and I explored an old mine and found these moths with white spiky protrusions lining the walls. At first I thought they were some kind of extending water-gathering device (they are covered in condensed drops), but then I realized that these moths were all dead. The place was a veritable mautholeum. The stuff now appears to me to be some kind of fungus — could it be the dreaded Cordyceps in our back yard? Or is it something less exotic?
Found behind some shingles while new insulation was being installed. This is very near the dryer outlet, which had partly fallen back and so wasn't venting quite as well at it should. So the theory is that this is due to heat/moisture from the dryer. Also seems to only be on the surface. Is it anything to worry about? We have Exhibit A and Exhibit B. It's white/white-ish and very fibrous.
Warning, question not for the faint of heart: My big toenails are yellowing with some gross gunk under my nails. Is it fungus? [more inside]
I'm trying to identify two separate growths I'm unfamiliar with, just for curiosity's sake. The first is a tight, cauliflower-like dome found on the base of a cut tree trunk. The second formed tiny red "spears" on a weed leaf. Pics within. [more inside]

My little brother had a jellow wrestling party in his basement with his college friends. It was a great success. However, they (he and his three roommates) left a large kiddie pool full of jello in his warm, wet, dark basement three weeks ago. Now there is giant kiddie pool full of mold in his basement. Much of the floor is also covered in mold. It's....very scary and smelly. How best to clean up? [more inside]
Tomato Disease Filter: what is this fungus looking stuff on my tomato plants? Can I save the plants or does this call for scorched earth tactics in order to protect the rest of the garden? [more inside]
Fungusfilter. My parents cut down a tree several years ago and had the stump ground up. About 2 years ago, this red fungus started growing up through the grass. It starts off as a beige foam and then solidifies and turns into a rubbery red color. It grows around the grass before solidifying. I thought it might be reishi but that just doesn't seem right. Here is an image. Thanks all.
I have a working slide projector, Lens A with the proper plastic-only screw-on attachment but with lens fungus, and Lens B without fungus but with no attachment to connect to the projector. Can I do anything to clean the attachment from Lens A and put it on Lens B without worrying about spreading the fungus? [more inside]
My snake plant is dying, and growing some kind of fungus. The leaves were coming out, one by one, looking like this: I thought I was overwatering, until I turned the whole plant around, and saw this: ; I assume these are related to each other, but what is it, and what should I do? I'm guessing that just digging out the whatever-it-is won't be enough.
Was I hallucinating? When I was a little kid in Army housing in Bamberg, Germany I saw a "Fire Flower" while I was out playing. Any help would be appreciated. [more inside]
Help me save my lemon tree. It's got tiny black spots on both sides of its leaves, and small beige bumps on the undersides. It's been spreading for about a month, but I'm finally noticing that it's actually harming the plant and killing the leaves. Badly damaged leaf: top, bottom, top close, bottom close. Early-stage leaf: top, bottom. Barely-affected leaf: top, bottom, bottom close. [more inside]

I replanted my indoor ficus benjimana/weeping fig about two weeks ago, putting it into a much larger pot, and using some Home Depot gardening soil. A few days ago, a thin-foam-like, white substance appeared over portions of the soil. Today, I notice I have large, blobby, mushy, fungus-looking things growing on the top of the soil. The tree, however, looks fine. What is this gross stuff, and should I do anything about it? [more inside]
