Just unwrapped my recently delivered William Baffin rose, to discover a lot of clumpy white and green mould or fungus all over the roots.
This is the first rose I've planted, so I have no idea if this is normal (nitrogen nodules?) or if it is, as my instincts say, a very unhealthy thing (kill it with fire). [more inside]

My family's been living in this house for about ten years, and early on I noticed we had a fairy ring
on the property. When our kids were little, they loved the fairy ring and asked me to mow around it, which I've done for the past six or seven years. This year I noticed that it seemed to expand. Since I don't cut it, there's a circle of longer grass from last year inside of where the fairy ring showed up this spring, as if the ring grew a little bit larger. I also noticed a smaller fairy ring, about a quarter of the size, seemed to be growing about fifteen yards away. I guess what I'm wondering is, by not mowing over the fairy ring, are we helping it get bigger, maybe even spawning baby fairy rings? What do you know about the care, feeding, and life cycle of the domesticated fairy ring? [more inside]

I have toenail infection and I feel my feet also have a bad smell. I am seeing tommorow a podiatrist but I am reluctant to accept antiviral treatment cause it affects the liver. What is your experience? Did you remove the nail?

Last night I consumed some Marijuana, which upon further inspection, seems to be rather moldy. After researching the types of mold that it could be, and the effects of that mold, I am rather worried that I may have given myself a rather dangerous fungal infection.
I do not have health insurance. I need to try to figure out what to do, please help!
Anyone who knows about medicine or fungi would be especially appreciated! [more inside]

My brother and I explored an old mine and found these moths with white spiky protrusions
lining the walls. At first I thought they were some kind of extending water-gathering device (they are covered in condensed drops), but then I realized that these moths were all dead. The place was a veritable mautholeum. The stuff now appears to me to be some kind of fungus — could it be the dreaded Cordyceps
in our back yard? Or is it something less exotic?

Found behind some shingles while new insulation was being installed. This is very near the dryer outlet, which had partly fallen back and so wasn't venting quite as well at it should. So the theory is that this is due to heat/moisture from the dryer. Also seems to only be on the surface. Is it anything to worry about? We have Exhibit A
and Exhibit B
. It's white/white-ish and very fibrous.

I'm trying to identify two separate growths I'm unfamiliar with, just for curiosity's sake. The first is a tight, cauliflower-like dome found on the base of a cut tree trunk. The second formed tiny red "spears" on a weed leaf. Pics within. [more inside]

My little brother had a jellow wrestling party in his basement with his college friends. It was a great success. However, they (he and his three roommates) left a large kiddie pool full of jello in his warm, wet, dark basement three weeks ago. Now there is giant kiddie pool full of mold in his basement. Much of the floor is also covered in mold. It's....very scary and smelly. How best to clean up? [more inside]

Fungusfilter. My parents cut down a tree several years ago and had the stump ground up. About 2 years ago, this red fungus started growing up through the grass. It starts off as a beige foam and then solidifies and turns into a rubbery red color. It grows around the grass before solidifying. I thought it might be reishi but that just doesn't seem right. Here is an image
. Thanks all.

My snake plant is dying, and growing some kind of fungus. The leaves were coming out, one by one, looking like this:
I thought I was overwatering, until I turned the whole plant around, and saw this:
I assume these are related to each other, but what is it, and what should I do? I'm guessing that just digging out the whatever-it-is won't be enough.

Can anyone identify this thread-like fungus? It seems to be coming from a plant in, but it migrates. I'm finding them on my couch, my desk chair (fabric covered), even on the shower curtain in the bathroom. I am prepared to toss the plant if no remedy is found but I'm more interested right now in finding out what it is... Here are photos of the home-invaders

I replanted my indoor ficus benjimana/weeping fig
about two weeks ago, putting it into a much larger pot, and using some Home Depot gardening soil. A few days ago, a thin-foam-like, white substance appeared over portions of the soil. Today, I notice I have large, blobby, mushy, fungus-looking things growing on the top of the soil. The tree, however, looks fine. What is this gross stuff, and should I do anything about it?
