In the next few weeks, I will need to attend a series of late-running formal dinners... with a five-year-old in tow. Please recommend your most magical, engrossing, dinner-table-friendly activity books, games, small toys, etc. for the early school-aged set, so we can keep her quietly in her seat and out of everyone's hair. I saw the coolest little foursquare toy, kind of a portable mini-court, yesterday at the park. I wish I'd stopped and talked to the guys playing with it, but I thought I could find it pretty easily... but not so.
So there's a little trampoline, I guess that's about two feet square, with a circular wall around it divided into four sections. They had a ball smaller than a kickball but bigger than a tennis ball, and if they hit it on the trampoline and it went between one person's section of the bordering wall, then it was like it had hit their square.
Does anybody know what this? I must have one. Immediately.

Ok, so I have been charged with coming up with a list of things to do at home with my wife in the evenings after the kids are in bed, because we are too broke to hire a sitter and go out right now. What are some fun things we could do at home with our clothes on that aren't too expensive or unhealthy, in a couple of hours? [more inside]
