How do you make friends in DC? My friend is a cool 23 year old woman in DC who doesn't know how to make friends in the city. She basically has her roommates, and that's it. Any idea of where the nice, normal, people in DC hang out, the people who aren't obsessed with themselves?

I'm an American guy in my mid-late twenties living in Melbourne, Australia for (at least) the next eight months. My social life was quite exciting when I first moved here during late summer, but lately it feels a bit stagnant at times.
