Should I invite friends to our wedding I'm not that close to?

Should I invite friends to our wedding that I'm not that close to and/or haven't really stayed in touch with? Do people think of wedding invitations as obligations to give gifts? Would it be really awkward? Or am I over-thinking this and I should just invite whoever I want to invite? [more inside]

Is my friend trying to surreptitiously decline a gift?

Question for the "guess culture" people: If a friend wants to leave a gift I gave her behind at my house for a year, is that likely to be her way of saying she doesn't really want it? Does that mean I can treat the gift as mine? [more inside]

What to give a best friend for their new business?

Mrs. Killaseal's best friend started a business less than a year ago (so far, so good). Mrs. K would like nothing more than to be able to assist best friend at the new business (food industry), but distance we live apart will not permit that, so that is out. So, we would like to give her a nice gift to congratulate her. Mrs. K wants to know, should we buy her an actual item (or items), in the 200-300 dollar range, or should we just give her a nice card with equivalent cash, since every budding entrepreneur could probably use the extra cash to help out with the new business? Mrs. K worries that although they are best friends, cash might still be tacky. [more inside]

Calling all Dark Tower fans! What gift do you give a member of your ka-tet when they leave?

A close friend of ours is moving away in a few days and I'd like to get him a token of our friendship to take with him. I know he's a huge fan of Stephen King's Dark Tower series, so I'm trying to come up with a symbolic object or phrase from the books that would be meaningful. I read the books myself a while back, but am terrible at remembering details and I won't have access to them in the next few days to look anything up. Any ideas?
