I have had a couple combo mini fridge/freezer's (one was a kenmore) and after a couple weeks they start leaking water and they also make my room cold. I heard large fridges that you have in your kitchen actually make the room warmer so I would like to buy one that uses that cooling system. (and that doesn't leak).

Power went out... right as I'd gone to the grocery. I put all the must-stay-cold stuff away anyhow because the stuff I'd bought was worth more than what was already in there. So, it's been opened once, what was put in was still frozen/cold from the grocery. I'm not opening it again. How long can I expect stuff to still be good for?

I think I've managed to puncture the piping on the freezer section of my fridge.

We just moved into a new apartment, and our cat promptly decided to hide behind the fridge (~20 year old Inglis System 2000, freezer on top). When we pulled it out from the wall to get her out, we decided to give the back a vacuum. I'm not sure when or how the condenser coils popped out like
this but now they won't lie flush with the back again. I'm assuming this is why our freezer is no longer freezing and our food has thawed (as we just moved in, we had nothing in the fridge). Any ideas? Thanks in advance?

When is it worth trying to fix your own appliances (an Amana ARB1917 bottom-freezer fridge in my case)?

I just broke my landlady's fridge-freezer. I was scraping ice out of the icy part, and I nicked the cooling device, letting out all the magic gas. Can I fix it? Can my engineer buddies fix it?

I need a quiet fridge/freezer as I have an open-plan kitchen/lounge. Do I go for a built-in or free-standing model? Just to add another problem...

Can anyone recommend any guidelines or specific household appliances (eg fridge, freezer, washing machine, sofa and bed) that are reasonably environmentally friendly and affordable (in the UK)?

US fridge-filter. I am trying to find a large refrigerator with a very small freezer. My google skills fail me, and I cannot find any sources that easily provides this information (especially since manufacturers don't report usable cubic footage). Suggestions are also welcome, although it must be Energy Star and shelves that slide out are highly desirable.
