Your fridge dispenses water from its door, and you've had it for at least a few years. Are you happy to have a water-dispensing fridge? Anything you wish you'd known about it earlier? Do you do anything special to clean or maintain the waterworks?
I'm going to have to replace my kitchen appliances at some point, so I browse the interweb late at night to see what is out there. I'm dismayed at the universality of high-tech interfaces on mid- to high-end appliances, by which I mean panels with LEDs and buttons that beep, and are both fragile and expensive to replace; kosher fridges that I just know will malfunction and leave my food in the dark every Saturday; programming functions on my dishwasher that will require me to go back to school to understand. What other options are out there? [more inside]
My freezer (the one that's the top portion of my fridge) stopped working and I've called an applliance repair person. I just pulled the fridge from the wall and I noticed styrofoam (2 pieces) wedged behind the coils. The coils look like this. I am pretty sure they were there (as packing material?) when the fridge was new and the previous home owner did not remove them. I can't imagine there should be styrofoam wedged in there! Should there be? [more inside]
I bought a mini fridge today and the guy said not to put it on its side or If I do, not to turn it on for 24 hours. I was trying to fit it in my car and I put it on its side for a second but it wouldn't fit so I rented a truck and put it upright not sideways and took it home. When I got it home I turned it on right away. It is very loud, enough that I hope it doesn't stop me from sleeping tonight since it's in my bedroom. Is this because I put it on its side for a few seconds?
I have had a couple combo mini fridge/freezer's (one was a kenmore) and after a couple weeks they start leaking water and they also make my room cold. I heard large fridges that you have in your kitchen actually make the room warmer so I would like to buy one that uses that cooling system. (and that doesn't leak).
