I want to be an adventurous, globe-trotting photographer! How do I do that? I can't really see my current situation leading to any globe-trotting, so I'm leaving in August to travel through South America for a few months and find some place I like enough to stay. I am a recent college graduate and I also suffer a good deal of wanderlust. There is the inevitable problem of combining work and play. At my university, the only career advice I received was graduate school or working the traditional 9-5 job. I'm wondering if it's possible to travel and earn money? [more inside]

I do freelance graphic design in NYC and have just been asked by a client to travel with them to Chicago for 5 days. I usually charge by the hour and work locally. I have no clue how to quote for this. Suggestions, please?
