Help me kill time while working near 34th St, NYC

Pottering around NYC: I work near 34th St/Herald Square and have huge gaps in my work schedule. Help me find nearby places (walking distance or only a couple subway stops at the most) where I can escape the office? Slightly narrowing constraints inside: [more inside]

Staycation, all I ever wanted Staycation...

If you had the next week open and free and no obligations, what would you do? Or even just a day or an afternoon? I am looking for suggestions of what to do with my Staycation...things that usually get waylaid because the days are just too short. I relax best when even my downtime has some structure...things I have on my list so far after the fold. [more inside]

1 month before work starts: what to do?

I'm starting work soon, any ideas on how I could best spend my time before it starts in one month? This is my second fulltime job since I finished my degree last year, and I'd be far away from home this time. What Part/Full-Time Jobs Allow Lots of Reading Time?

What Part/Full-Time Jobs Allow Lots of Reading Time? So far I could come up with: lifeguard, parking lot attendant, pet/house sitter, night-time babysitter, and security guard. What are some others? Pay is not important. I will be working another job for the $ and get my study/ready done during this one.
