I have an ipod that I want to fill up. I don't do torrents, and I'm not looking for anything illegal, I just want stuff that's being given away. I'm really into The Roots, The Fugees, anything by the Sandpeople Collective, Atmosphere, Nas, Angel Haze, that sort of thing. Not really into Odd Future. I know there are a zillion good underground rappers out there with free downloadable albums. Can you recommend some for me?

Looking for some help in locating music. Friends of mine have created a short film for a contest and are looking for some royalty-free film music to complement the piece. Does anyone know of an extensive library of downloadable royalty-free soundtrack work from perhaps the 40s, 50s and 60s? We only have ten short days to complete the film, that is why we are seeking pre-recorded existing music. A lot of those music sites charge absurd rates for royalty-free tracks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I want to learn how to make electronic music. But I need to learn in a way that guides me...very...slowly...and directedly. (Also, as free-of-charge as humanly possible.)

I don't know much about music and I don't have a large music vocabulary - once you get past "bassline" I am reduced to saying things like "It was very squeaky yet melodic somehow, you know?" I would like some sources for critical writing about more complicated modern music.

Anyone point me towards some music that I can download and use to accompany the photographs that I'll be taking at my son's school sports day? I intend selling copies of the disc for a few pounds each to raise some money for school funds, so either copyright free or some sort of UK waiver would be essential. The music should be upbeat and appropriate for a sporting theme.

Here is an example... My Boss: "We want to use the Can Can song. Our music guy has done a recording for us. Is it in the Public Domain?" Me: "Yes. The composer, J. Offenbach, has been deceased since 1880 and if we are doing our own arrangement we are fine." My Bosses Boss: "About 5 years ago, I tried to clear this song for use in a TV production and discovered that it was NOT in the Public Domain. Elle Vator, can you research this and let us know the answer two months ago?"

I am putting together a slide show of some photos of our recent holiday to Europe and would like to add some theme music to appropriate photos. Is there a site that has free/open source no-cost music that might be suitable to add to a slide show? The format of tracks is not that important (mp3 is fine) but I would prefer a site that had tracks sorted by type/genre eg. Italian, or holiday, etc.

I'm making a music playlist, the theme of which is music piracy. What songs would you recommend for it? Things like Bow Wow Wow "C30, C60, C90, Go" or I guess anything with words like "free" or "copy" in the title...
