Hear me out before you say "Just google it" -- I do plenty of google-shopping for images and generally find low-res crappy images that are not necessarily what I'm looking for. I am looking for Victorian/19th century images. They must be high resolution and they are preferably in the public domain. I plan on using them for mixed media collages -- mostly just for myself and friends/gifts and not for profit, however, I've been offered space in an art booth and I may end up using images for commercial gain. More details behind the cut. [more inside]

I'm looking for something akin to Rpg Maker VX Resource Planet
, except with vector art. I'd like resources for public domain or CC-licensed vector art assets for use as placeholders in games. I'd prefer SVG format and paths that are as simple and small as possible, but anything convertible to SVG is cool.

I have access to free printing on canvas paper, so I'd like to find some high-resolution (100 dpi minimum) images of neat illustrations and unusual images to frame. [more inside]

Can I "dumpster dive" for free art by hanging around art colleges at the end of a semester and snagging unwanted class projects? What would be the protocol for doing such a thing? Is there any other situation in which I could snag free art?

I am looking for a good website for free clip art. I have googled but come up with rather lame clip art. I am putting together a one page memo and wanted some cartoonish things like aliens and comic book like designs. And I am using Word 2004 for the Mac.

Find me some free, nice divider/filigree images that I can use in a printed booklet without getting pixelated looking. Stuff like this, but better:
