What music for a 1930's French Casino murder mystery party?

Having our Murder Mystery Party tonight, and trying to button up some last minute things. I need some music suggestions for ambiance. The setting is 1930's France, in a casino. Lot's of secret agents and what not.

Help a large man get his 1920s Parisian Fashion on!

I'm hosting a Murder Mystery night in a few weeks. I think I have a handle on most of the host duties, but I'm struggling with the costume. I'm a large man, and the venue is a Charity Auction in 1920's-ish France. How would a large Parisian man dress back then, and look relatively not horrible? [more inside]

Salty Liquorice Candy Outside of the Netherlands

What stores in Paris sell salty liquorice candy? I'm aware of one store (Käramell) that sells the candy by weight, but I'm really looking for a store that sells pre-packaged salty liquorice candy products, such as Venco Topdrop Hard Zout. I've had no luck in any of the chain supermarkets, so have you seen salty liquorice products in any smaller, independent Parisian stores?

Asterix and Beyond!

What's the French Comics Canon? What are the books it's assumed everyone has read if you read French comics? I've gone through this list, but doesn't really tell you which are held in esteem or are big touchstones/turning points. My reading french is at or near elementary level - short sentences are fine, huge philosophical paragraphs less so.

Travel to Paris, France as a Bahamian citizen: How fast can a visa be taken care of?

A friend is traveling to Paris, France to stay for 2-5 days. He's a Bahamian citizen, which seems to indicate he'll need a visa for sure. Here's the twist: he's en route, and may have only a day to try to get any paperwork taken care of. Does he stand a chance of getting a visa through, or should he turn back now? The US French Consulate does not give out visa information by phone, and I've trying contacting Customs and the Police at Charles De Gaulle Airport (+33 1 48 62 31 22). Unfortunately, I don't speak French, and the phone system seems to be unforgiving.

Short term mobile internet in France

How can I get pseudo-mobile internet in France for just two months? There are wifi hot spots all over but the prices seem outrageous, presumably the unlimited wifi is only for DSL customers?
