I'm trying to learn French. I'm in France, which is a great start. I find I can just about manage with Tin Tin books so reckon that comics (BDs for the more francophone amongst you) or children's fiction will be a good way to relax whilst getting extra practice. Can you recommend some comics or kids books that are in French and not overly complicated linguistically? (I have tried Asterix, but the puns just fly past my confused brain).

Why are there so many French internet radio stations?
On iTunes, they seem vastly disproportionate. Is there a legal reason, a historical reason, or something else?

What is the name of that French song from maybe five years back which had an animated music video of a little girl running through the pastures and playing? After a certain time, she stops playing, and she exits what turns out to be a big stage. A line of children are waiting their turn to enter the stage and play. [more inside]

I'm staying with friends on the border between Switzerland and France for about six weeks this summer and would like to find a school that offers intensive French lessons. Ideally I would leave for France sometime in the beginning of June and stay until mid-July, though my dates are flexible. I speak intermediate level French now and would be willing to come into a course a little late, if necessary. Thanks!

I am trying to remember the title of a French movie I saw in early 1999, although it may date from earlier than that. I'll be going to France in a little under 2 months, to stay 2 weeks with a family that doesn't speak much English at all, in a relatively small town that doesn't speak much English at all. I'm decently proficient, but not confident, and definitely lacking in the listening/speaking end. I have, however, 9 days coming up where I will have more than enough free time. I won't have an internet connection, but I'll have a laptop I can put stuff on. What is the best use of the next 2 months in terms of preparing for functioning well on the trip? [more inside]

French Citizenship or Residence
I am a United States citizen who is looking to move to France. I am currently living in the Republic of Ireland but I am finding it harder and harder to maintain legal residence (even though, my mother is remarried to an Irishman and my ancestry is Irish) It seems you either have to be offered a contract for employment or be a student to stay here. I HEARD that requirements for French citizenship or permanent residence were more lenient. Does anyone have any information on this. I am NOT "highly skilled" in the slightest, unless you consider fixing PCs and Macs a skill.
