I am an AT&T Customer with an iPhone 5. I am traveling to London, Paris, and Dusseldorf this summer and don't want to get killed with international data and cell charges. Plus I want good apps for translation, maps, etc. What's the best way to do this, and would I be better or worse off with an Android phone (Galaxy S4 or HTC One)? Any first-hand experience would be awesome.

I’m currently based in Andalucía, Spain, teaching English for the school year, and am planning to visit neighboring France during Christmas vacation. France fascinates me and will be the first country I visit outside of Spain during my time in Europe, but to be honest: I know nothing. I have approximately 13 days to spend in the country, I would like to see Paris and a few other sites in the northwest, and I will probably enter the country on the Mediterranean coast (from Spain) and leave via the Basque Country (to return to Spain). What should I see?

I have to be in Paris for an academic conference on May 31 to June 1st. On June 2nd, there's a marathon
in Sauternes, which appears to be about 6-7 hours south-west of Paris by car. My question is (1) having never been to France, and never traveled around Europe except by train and since college, can I get from Paris to Sauternes in time to run the race at 8:30am the next morning realistically? And (2) can you help me logistically plan this ahead of time so that it minimizes risk of getting lost, missing the race, and spending a lot of money? I will be flying out of Paris, fyi, and haven't booked any flights yet.

I didn't get my Eurail pass before I left. Now I have a surprise week off and I'd really like one. Will I run into any problems if I buy one, have it sent to my hometown in Canada, and have my parents send it back to me in France? I have 17 days before it needs to be in my hands.

I plan to drive from Venice, Italy to Valenica, Spain in April or May 2009 using
the following route. I will stay for a few days or weeks in little spots along the way. I should have about six weeks in total. I mostly want to see a little of Spain and Italy, the French Riviera, Montpellier, Marseilles and finish at Valencia. Apart from that anything else I should try to see? Any parts of the chosen route I should avoid? What's driving like along that route? Any rental car companies which will let me pick up in Italy and drop off in Spain?

How does a 40ish year old male with enough money find his way around Europe without foreign language skills? Is it possible to hire guides to travel with, or at least to show them around on a city-by-city basis for this sort of thing? I'm thinking specifically France, Spain, Italy. Willing to use University students or some other creative possibility.

I'm planning on moving to Europe at the end of this year. Most likely start out in the French countryside of Brittany, where it is semi-affordable to live. Moving from the states. Any advice on working within France and renting a flat while there. I plan to go over on my passport and extend my stay every 3 months or so. Basically looking for first hand experience from those of you who have moved from the states to France (or neighboring countries) and if you have any advice, pointers or tips to go about planning my move it would be highly appreciated. I plan to do much music while over there, but it will not generate enough to sustain a living and France is not a definite locale to start from. I have also been contemplating Vienna and Berlin. Thanks in advance and I would be very interested to hear from others who have moved or have friends who have.
