Seeking software for scanning old paper photos into digital format. I'm hoping to find something that will automatically crop to borders of the photo so I don't need to manually crop every one in Photoshop. Bonus points if it will automatically resize all the scanned images into a specific resolution size. [more inside]

I need an electronic welcome sign for my office. Currently we are using printed signs in a frame to welcome clients and prospects to our financial services office. We would like to change that to a large digital frame that can also show some photos from client events. The large part seems to be giving me trouble. [more inside]

Suggestions for a digital frame that will download wireless pictures I upload to a photo site? I'm getting this for mother's day as I live hundreds of miles away from her I would like to just upload pictures to a site and have the frame automatically updates. Budget is between $150-250.

Digital Photo Frame (DPF) with wireless and wide viewing angle? I had my heart set on a Sungale 15” DPF with wifi, but when I viewed one in-store, the screen was far more sensitive to viewer head position than the norm (both height and sideways angle), which is terrible for a DPF. Is there anything similar which uses a non-sucky screen, and how can I know, given that I can’t view it personally before buying? [more inside]

After searching Google and the archives of AskMe, I've come across some great suggestions and ideas for making digital photo frames. From what I can determine, however, all of these require a computer of some kind built into the frame. Supposing one only has a laptop screen? Specifically, the screen from an old ThinkPad with a blown motherboard. Could I connect the monitor to my network somehow? Hook it up to some special circuit board designed for just this sort of thing?

What's your verdict on digital picture frames? I have been largely unimpressed until I came across this -- a steep investment but tempting nonetheless for a photophile like me. Right now, I'm loving the slide show screensaver on my PC but it still sits there in the office, apart from the mainstream of the house. I have more than 10,000 images and it would be nice to display them dynamically in a classy setting. Tiny table top frames just don't seem to cut it. Would I be throwing too much at this? What works for you?
