I've got three beautiful unframed old doors I want to install. They were taken out of an old house and the frames did not come with. I know how to install a door that is in a frame but how the hell do you put a door IN a frame? [more inside]
My outside side door's doorframe has cement or somethingsimilar around it to seal up the area between the frame and the brick wall. The cement is breaking up on one side. What product should I replace it with? How do I install it? Here are some pictures.
I mistakenly got the last poster I hung custom framed, which cost way more than the poster did. So what are my best options for hanging a poster nicely? [more inside]
I bought a very large (62"x24") map last week, but now I'm at a little bit of a loss for how to actually display it. Help me think of ways to put it on my wall without spending 50x as much on the frame as I did on the map. [more inside]

I've played Skyrim on a PS3 for a while now. I love it, but after hearing about all the mods you can do with the PC version, I was eager to buy the PC game. I've been trying to play it on my computer, but it's awful. [more inside]
I recently bought my first piece of art (yay!), which looks like this, but I don't know how to hang it up. It's about 41" x 41", with a wood frame, and it's fairly heavy. On the back are two heavy-duty rails about 5.5" long each, one in each corner at the top (closeup here and here) that are to be used for hanging. [more inside]
I have a very large (6'x6') piece of amateur art that is made of many large paper cut-outs layered on top of one another with spray adhesive. This art has no actual $ value. I really like it and want to hang it on a wall but I am afraid the layers will quickly peel/curl/wrinkle/rip/fade if I mount the piece on foam core or similar. Framing it with glass or plexi would be (a) expensive and (b) heavy! Any other ideas how I can display this work?
My google searches are yielding nothing. Where is the best place to get a nice, not super expensive, diploma frame. It's for a small college, so it needs to be somewhere than can do a custom embossing of a school name on a frame mat if I input the name when I purchase it. Anybody know of something like this? Thanks!
My bed frame is really squeaky - it chirps with my slightest move. And now it has a new thing - every once in a while, when I lie perfectly still, it squeaks in time with my heartbeat. I'm not kidding - I checked my own pulse to make sure it wasn't something else. This is amazing. How might I tune my bed - or make a whole new piece of furniture - that would do this deliberately and reliably? [more inside]
Local photo place has a pretty good deal on 8x10" prints (20x25cm) if you buy 10 of them. What should I do with this many prints? [more inside]
I've been looking for interesting vintage-ish hardtail mountain bike frames, and found an ad on Craigslist for an aluminum MTB purportedly built by Colin Laing. Laing is known as a master steelworker who traditionally built beautifully-lugged track and road bikes in England and Arizona, so my hackles have been raised. It would certainly be a unique bike were it built by him. Would you be so well-informed as to confirm or deny the plausibility that this is a Neat Bike? [more inside]
I've had this little home decor project idea floating around in my head for ages and I need a specific kind of picture frame to pull it off. One of those family collage frame type dealies that everybody's grandma has in the den. But they seem to have dropped out of fashion and I haven't been able to find one anywhere over the course of numerous googlings for the past year and a half. [more inside]
I bought a good condition vintage Casati frameset for $380 4 years ago and have been riding it regularly since, without any issues. I recently slipped into a gap between two grates at the bottom of the ramp leading into my work garage and didn't hurt myself but the bike's back wheel was rubbing against the frame. I took it to a shop and they said the frame was bent (I think they said dropouts were bent). I relayed the information to my workplace and they are filing an insurance claim. My questions are as follows: could that damage have occurred somehow before without me noticing? How do I appraise the worth of my bike? I can't recall the model name and can't find a serial number, i just only see the brand and the columbus decal. And finally, is there anything else I should do in preparation for this claim? 20 3/4" (w) x 28" (h) poster, can't afford to custom frame it. Which is better: 1) a standard 22x28 frame, with a little extra space (or matting) along the width of the poster; 2) a 24x30 frame with 1 1/2" mat on either side and 1" of mat at top and bottom each? [more inside]
We just got a nice new mattress. It came with a box spring. We were using our old mattress on an IKEA bed (the Redalen, which I guess they don't sell anymore) with their cheap wooden slats, the Sultan Lade, as support. All things being equal, we'd stick with the IKEA bed and slats. But are all things equal? Are there advantages to using the box spring instead of the slats?
Asking for a friend, can someone translate this chinese frame, please?

For Christmas, I'd like to purchase digital photo frames for family members that would allow me to update the photos wirelessly. The reviews for several of the digital wi-fi frames are awful on Amazon. Do you have any recommendations for digital photo frames that specifically come with wi-fi? Or another digital photo frame that would be easy enough for non-tech-savvy people to use? Thank you.
My boyfriend collects posters from the many concerts he attends. He is averse to using store-bought poster frames because he thinks this will ruin the poster. Is this true? If so, is there a cheaper method to protect the posters than custom mounting and framing for over $100 apiece? [more inside]
I've got several double-sided posters, A3 sized, which I'd like to frame for display so that they could be regularly turned around. [more inside]
I ride a single speed (flip flop hub) here in NYC and am at a bit of a crossroads - my bike is at the shop and the diagnosis is grim - the worn out seat post is corroded into the frame. If it doesn't come out easy the repairs might be more than the original cost of the bike. Should I strip the components off the bike and get a new frame? Or a new bike entirely? Bike fiends I'd love some tips/pointers on this one. Specific details inside... [more inside]

I plan to go to Lowes or Home Depot and get the backing and plexi but want sturdy metal parts to make a very basic black 22 x 34 frame. The stores have the dimensions but the quality is so utterly crappy I want to get something sturdy. Many of my posters have the 22 x 34 dimensions but am going for cheapest online site that is dependable and then will build from the parts myself. I had found a site years ago but no longer can find it anymore. (Tried IKEA as they at least look a bit nicer but no luck on that dimension.)
I have a 24x40 poster that I would like to stick in a frame. I am reluctant to go to our local custom framing shop, because while they do very nice work, the price is usually in the >$100 range, which is more than I can spend right now. I've done some searching online, and haven't found great results, plus it is hard for me to assess the good vs. bad websites to purchase. Any recommendations on where I can get this size frame (or another size that my poster would look okay in - does not need to be super professional-looking), hopefully for less than $50? I can swing by a store like Target, but don't want to get into anything too complicated like looking at flea markets.
I bought a print of a painting I love in the only format available: A full bleed art show poster on glossy 11"x17" bond. The painting reproduction is approximately the top half of the poster, say 10"x8". I can clearly see the grain of the canvas in the print, and it is entirely possible that the original painting is not much larger than the reprint. So my question is, is it feasible to have this print blown up to twice or thrice it's size without sacrificing quality? [more inside]

I'm looking for a specific picture frame to display school pictures of my four kids. The pictures are 3.5" x 5" portrait oriented. Earlier this year I bought my wife a used 54cm Cannondale Six13 Feminine 3 Compact via Craigslist. It was in mint condition and I basically bought for a small fraction of the retail price - the lady who was selling it got it as a gift from her ex-boyfriend and just wanted to get rid of it. However, I misjudged my wife's frame size - she should be riding a smaller bike. Being that this bike has great components, I have decided to replace the frame. Help me do it! [more inside]
