Fractured metatarsals in dogs. My dog has broken three metatarsals in one hind paw - the fractures are straight across in the same line. We've been advised to see an orthopedic vet to discuss surgery vs. splinting. What should we know going into this meeting? Can you suggest good questions to ask? Can this kind of injury be caused by stress, i.e. jumping on a hard surface?

Someone stomped on my foot six weeks ago. It's still exquisitely painful with pressure, but no pain for walking. Do I need an x-ray before starting to run again? Assume 10 - 15 miles per week in minimalist shoes.

What did I do to my foot? I have been working very physically and in bare feet no less but... my foot started to hurt several house after I was done with work and there wasn't a specific incident to cause the pain. My foot just started to radiate pain, seemingly out of no where.

please forgive my typing. i had a crush injury to my index finger one month ago. my question involves trying to figure out a way to minimize involuntary hand movements at night which only exacerbate the pain. there has to be some clever way to do this?

My girlfriend just broke her arm a few inches above the elbow (spiral fracture). She's currently in a splint and will possibly get a plate and pins in a few days. She works at a desk job, which she will return to after a week or two of rest. What can we do to make life easier (tips, special equipment, etc)?

Two months ago I fell and fractured my right radial head. It's not healing, and surgery is now a possibility. Care to help me weigh my options?

I fractured my second, third, and fourth metatarsals, my medial cuneiform bone, and I have what is called a Lisfranc injury in my left foot. How much mobility will I have as the healing progresses? How can I prevent gaining weight and stay in shape? How the heck am I going to move to Manhattan?

I fractured my right index finger about 9 months ago when a table-saw kicked a small square of plywood at high velocity into the end of the 'metacarpal' near the first joint. I taped it up and after about six weeks it felt basically normal. It is straight and I have full mobility however, with the coming of spring, it has started to ache, sometimes distractlingly so... so what's going on?

My broken foot is healing rather nicely. I'm off my crutches and walking on the boot. My orthopedist gave me some instructions for stretching and rehabbing, but they weren't very specific. How can I do better physical therapy at home?

I broke my humerus and now have a great big cast. I am concerned about the fact that I can feel some movement at times. Specifically, if I try to rotate my elbow (not the curl/uncurl motion, but side-to-side), I feel like the arm moves but in reality it doesn't (observably move). That makes me worry that the bones may be moving ... in which case how can they heal together? Also, do the cast covers for showering work?

I have some wrist pain from my wrist being twisted, which by all signs appears to be a sprain rather than anything more serious. I'm trying to make sure I don't need to visit an ER (other major factor is that I have no insurance and I don't know what would happen financially after an ER visit).

I am almost positive I've fractured the scaphoid in my left hand (I'm right-handed). [I've done it before; all the symptoms line up; doctor pals have taken a look and concurred] I'm currently uninsured and really can't afford to go to PT and have them outfit me with a cast/splint.
