How do I promote my Open Souce tech project? [more inside]
I'm looking for a way to let members of my forum create an individual "member page" for themselves, or have it created for them automatically upon being accepted into a certain usergroup, that they could fill out with miscellaneous info. To be more precise, the forum revolves an online game, and the member page would have details about their characters, background stories, etc. It doesn't really have to be tied to their forum account, although it would be a smooth way to handle it from the user standpoint. Does anyone have a recommendation for a forum / board (preferably PHP based) that is particularly painless to integrate with a pre-existing member database? [more inside]
phpBB, Invision, etc., are all great forum systems. The main drawback, for me, is that they all seem so bloated and cluttered. Statistics, rankings, avatars, signatures, etc., all seem to get in the way of actual content. Are there any good, robust, flexible, but more lightweight message board systems out there?
