I made a form in InfoPath 2013 that submits to a Sharepoint library. I can open and submit it both via SharePoint and via InfoPath Filler. However, when I try to open the template file in InfoPath Designer it barfs with "InfoPath cannot load the view. The view may have been modified to contain unsupported HTML such as frames." Halp. A colleague who is a very serious runner and would like to get into training people as a side gig has offered free coaching to me and a couple of others from work, in order to build up some experience, which is awesome. We've done a few runs so far, and I'm enjoying it. But there's a couple of tips he's given me on improving my form which I don't understand, and I'm hoping you can help me interpret them. I have a spreadsheet that contains information I want to use to fill out a form, Mad Libs style. Essentially, I'd take each row of the spreadsheet and use the cells to populate a text document. It's not actually in Excel/Word - it's in Libreoffice, if that changes anything. I also need room for conditional if-then statements, because some text may require additional accompanying notes. I tried generating a pdf in Nandeck (card game generation software) but that doesn't work well for formatting text relative to other text, so I'm looking for a better solution.
I am writing a piece about the melding of form and content within a certain musician's body of work. (I'd rather not give this artist's name.) I am looking for texts which deal with concepts of form and content in any genre. Denise Levertov's "Some Notes on Organic Form" is likely going to be my main reference, but I haven't been able to think of many other resources despite attempting to search the library databases on this. Can anyone think of other texts to check out?
This is kind of silly, and maybe I can't figure it out because there's no great answer, but if anyone can come up with a creative solution to this, it's Ask Metafilter! I need some kind of workable real-world analogy for a poem's structure--something where choosing a particular form affects your end result. Or something where you have to choose each element carefully in order to get the result you want. [more inside]
I am regular user of Adobe Acrobat Pro (Version 9, currently), for document manipulation purposes. I am certainly not expert at it, but I'm not entirely stupid. I sometimes run into forms (the ones I work with are typically from various state and federal government agencies) where the helpful persons setting up those forms either accidentally or set up with programming/permissions that don't allow me be able to manipulate the forms. These are not high level sensitive documents, or anything, and all I am trying to do is to be able to add/edit/delete various form fields in order to fill out the forms properly. Here is a link to the current form that has me stymied - it is the S-Corporation election form from the IRS (form 2553): http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f2553.pdf [more inside]

I want to create a form with Open Office that lets me enter numbers in the right column of a page that corresponds to the text in the left. I want to be able to past the entire text document into the right column and have the left column remain blank for my entries. A spreadsheet won't work because the text won't word wrap. I've also tried a table and inserting a column into a text document. I've also tried to write in the margin, but I'll be moving a lot of documents, so I don't want to do a lot of specific typing, which would likely be spread across thousands of pages of documents. I'd like to automate and past as much of this as possible. Think of how books of poetry or philosophy number each line of corresponding text, making it easy to find a specific verse. That's the form I want to create. Or if it has already been created and exists somewhere, I'd gladly download it. Help.
We received this dressmaker's dummy from our client with old sticker residue on her. Too many items to shoot to just Photoshop the spot out, so I'm desperate for a permanent solution- The obvious point here is I can't throw her into the washing machine as she's wooden directly under the fabric that needs cleaning. Already tried a small bit of Goo Gone, with a clean white cloth, but I think it may just be moving the gunk around and not removing the residue as I'd hoped. I read about lighter fluid (butane), WD-40 and some others, but am obviously hesitant to do anything that may permanently discolor this spot even more. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm attempting to create a form using Adobe LiveCycle for the first time. I've made a good dent in what I'm trying to do, and everything's finally working as it should, except that one particular field insists on printing even though the "presence" is absolutely, positively marked "Visible (screen only)". From a famous poem by Elizabeth Bishop.;....Even losing you,(the joking voice, a gesture I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident the art of losing 's not too hard to master though it may look like(Write it!) like disaster. The question is, what's the difference between " I shall never lie." and"I shan't have lied."??

Let's say I'm an in-house graphic designer working on a sale sign template for a company with several locations. I've got Helvetica. The various locations don't. I'd like to make a fancy template in InDesign, and then create a PDF form where employees can alter small portions of the text and then print the completed sale sign at their location, still using the Helvetica. Is this possible? [more inside]

I have two questions about setting up MS Access forms: 1) Currently, I have a form to enter the volunteer id, shift start time and shift stop time, but the client doesn't want to have to look up the id in a report. Is there a way to create a selection list from the volunteer's names? What other options are there? 2) On the "add/edit a volunteer" form, I'd like to be able to choose tasks from a selection list. The tasks table has id and name. The "tasks of volunteers" join table has volunteer id and task id. How do I set this up? I can't seem to get the right combination of configurations. [more inside]
