What do the tines end at?

What is the middle part of the fork called, that part where the tines end before the handle starts? Does it have a name? My toddler would really like to know. If it just doesn't have a name, that would be nice to know too.

I eat my peas with honey?

Can anyone help me master tines-down eating? All my life I've used my utensils in the North American style - fork mainly in the right hand, scooping the food into my mouth. Yay! But now that I've moved to England I'm struggling with tines-down eating.

Can any of the pros out there help me out with some basic tips? How do you get the food to stay on the fork properly? And what are the exceptions - last few peas, non-sticky rice, anything like that?

I've tried to subtly observe other peoples' techniques at the table, but then I forget to eat my own food quickly enough, leading to me being the last and only one left with food on my plate with everyone watching me drop food all over my lap.

What frame and forks should I look out for?

Fixedgearfilter: I'd like to build a single speed bike, but I have no idea what frame and forks to buy. I recently went to San Francisco and while out there I was surrounded by Fixed Gear bikes and they were awesome. I currently ride a 1950s single speed Schwinn and would prefer that setup to an actual fixed gear. But since I've only ever ridden cruisers and bmx bikes, I don't know what frame and forks to buy.

So... I'm 6ft tall and I need to know what kind of used bicycle would make a suitable donor for a frame and what size it needs to be roughly. I'd also prefer straight forks so recommendations for those would be amazing. I won't be using lever brakes so the smoother the frame the better!

Thanks in advance...

Help me find fun plates and cups.

I want to buy funky plates and cups (different for each place setting) The more eclectic and weird, the better. Do you have a favorite plates/cup that you got online that are cheap, funny, and safe for human consumption?(no traces of any chemicals that may cause blindness, irritability, etc..)

How do i put my motorcycle on an engine block?

i'm trying to replace the forks on my motorcycle. it's a 1976 honda cb 550. The work seems pretty straightforward -- but all of the instructions i read begin with 'lift the front wheel by putting the engine on a block.

how do i do that??!!

thanks.
