Real terraforming

I want to know more about the part of forestry that explains how and why forests (any kind) are composed and developed. By "composition," I mean the relative placement of the elements of a forest, like ravines and canopies. Books, web pages, and a massive, super-detailed time lapse animation of a forest forming from nothing would all be great.

Microeconomics undrstand of a computer replacement schedule?

I work in IT in an industry that is currently suffering (forestry in Canada), because of that, the current computer replacement schedule (of approx 2500 computers) has moved from a 3 or 4 year schedule to 5-7 years. I am also *just* starting a course in microeconomics. I'd like to learn, and at the same time create a graph and information to understand and be able to explain the opportunity cost of this move. Looking for a spider-like piece of heavy machiny

Please help me find a picture (or the name, or the site) of a surreal scandinavian forestation machine. It's a huge machine on 6 or 8 legs - looks just like a spider - with the cabin nested in the middle and one huge scorpion-like arm for lifting tree trunks. Rings a bell? [more inside]
