Breakfast and ice cream spots near Hotel Andra, Seattle?

I would like to have great breakfast and ice cream in Seattle. Can you help? Nearer to Hotel Andra the better. The family is taking a road trip to Seattle soon and we are looking for great breakfast and ice cream spots. We're staying at Hotel Andra, so walking/Monorail/short drive distance from there would be preferable. Bonus points if the breakfast place is 21-month-old-toddler-friendly. If you have a to-die-for breakfast recommendation we could hit on the way out of town we'd be up for it, too. Thank you!

Delicious date-based falafel seasoning

Help me find a date! Powdered dates, that is, in Seattle. Some falafel and gyros places season their food with a coarse, reddish powder which I find delicious. I've been told (by one falafel-counter guy) that it's made from toasted, ground dates. I'd like to use it in my own cooking. So my questions are: what names does this stuff go by? And where might I be likely to buy some in or near Seattle?

Eats and Joe near Ace Hotel (Seattle)?

Seattle eats- cheap, cheerful, and coffee walking distance from the ACE Hotel? Hi- I'm eagerly looking forward to his first time in Seattle since 1985(!) this coming Saturday, have a week at Ace Hotel (loved, loved the one in PDX so giving this one a spin). I'll be on my own and like ethnic, especially Mexican which is thin on the ground up here (Calgary, and Canada in general), but also just about any stripe as long as it's good value, anything unpretentious and casual enough for shorts and runners (and comfy for a solo diner); and am a huge coffeegeek whose tastes run to places like Stumptown. Thanks!

Its my birthday... where should I eat in Seattle?

It's my birthday... where should I eat in Seattle? I'm looking for insight into some of Seattle's nicest restaurants which I may not have yet eaten at. Chain restaurants are ok... though my wife and I usually prefer Seattle's unique restaurants.

Money is no big deal, though I'd prefer to have options which didn't break the bank.

Any suggestions?

What are the best places to stop (for great PHOTO ops and delicious FOOD) along Hwy 101 from San Francisco to Seattle?

Please recommend the best places to stop for PHOTO opportunities and delicious FOOD along the 101 from San Francisco to Seattle on a 3-day road trip? I have search some previous posts like this. But I have more specific criteria.

We leave San Francisco early on a Monday (maybe 7-8am), and we want to get to Seattle by 9-10pm on a Wednesday.

Like I mentioned, my friend and I are avid photographers and looking for some great landscape and nature photo opportunities. We also LOVE food, so unique and DELICIOUS places are requested (cheap doesn't hurt, either).

We're planning to camp out, so we need 2 different parks/forests to camp at.

Right now we're thinking about:

-Redwood National Forest
-Eureka, CA
-Mendocino, CA
-Oregon Dunes

We live in Seattle, so we prefer places that would be tougher to get to from Seattle since we could do those another time.

We know that 3 days isn't very long, so we will have to be pretty selective, but just wanted lots of suggestions to choose from.

Any links to photo/travel blogs, especially ones with photos are welcome!

Thanks!

DIY Restaurant in Seattle???

My birthday is coming up, and in my search for something novel and exciting to do I was told that somewhere in Seattle (possibly in the Lake Union area) there is a restaurant where you can bring a group of people, select a menu, learn how to prepare it, and then feast on the fruits of your labor. Does anyone have ANY idea if this place exists, and if so where it is??? Google has failed me utterly.

Seattle, what am I to do with you? Also, where am I to eat? I'm moving to the seattle area in one week. I'll be there for just over 14 weeks (hooray Microsoft internship). The thing is, i've only spent 2 days there before, and those were for the internship itself.

I need some help. Tell me of what fun things I can do in the area. I'm also looking for some great restaurants in the area, as it is time for me to expand my palate.

All help, and info, greatly appreciated.

Additional info: Just turned 21. Living in redmond (i think, wherever the corporate housing is). And i'm really looking for what you guys think is fun, so that I can use your ideas of fun to help me in my search for fun.

Crawfish in Seattle?

Crawfish in Seattle? My girlfriend and I are both Southerners currently living in Seattle. We are dying for some boiled crawfish and, according to the Seattle Times, we have crawfish in Lake Washington.

Does anybody know where to get boiled crawfish anywhere (anywhere! we're dying!) in the Puget Sound area?

Seattle recommendations, please? Sushi? Sunday breakfast / brunch? Dive bar?

So we're going to be in Seattle the weekend before Christmas. One place I know I want to eat is Quinn's; I'd love to get a recommendation for great sushi the other night we're in town.

I've heard good things about Nishino and Umi Sake House, but I'm open to any suggestions.

We're staying at the Edgewater, but will have a car and a sense of adventure, so we're willing to travel in the greater metro area for the sake of great food.

I'd also love recommendations for the following:

1. Excellent Sunday breakfast and / or brunch.

2. A pleasant neighborhood-y or dive-y bar not far from the hotel (something in Belltown, maybe?). We like to eat kinda fancy but prefer to drink kinda homey, if that makes any sense...

And, yes, I have explored the other Seattle questions here, but restaurants open and close all the time (for example, Quinn's, where we're eating one of the nights we're in town, wasn't even open the last time a similar question was asked) and up-to-date information would be much appreciated.

Lunch Spot in Seattle Near Bainbridge Ferry?

I'm meeting my siblings in Seattle before heading to Bainbridge Island to visit our parents for Christmas. Where should the 3 of us have lunch before getting on the ferry? This is the first time we've all gone to visit at the same time, and we're hoping to find a good spot between the airport and the ferry where we could grab lunch. Preferably it would be within walking distance of the ferry terminal.

Help Me Find Seattle's Mexican Uwajimaya

Where are all the Mexican groceries in Seattle? I recently got my hands on this fantastic book and love cooking from it, but I'm having a hard time sourcing things like dried chiles (Safeway has guajillos, but not dry chipotles or anchos, for example), cumin seeds, etc. I'd also love to be able to buy fresh masa, or at least locally made corn tortillas.

I know about the Mexican Grocery in Pike Place Market, and while it sounds like it would be perfect - and I intend to check it out - it's hard for me to get down there when they're open.

I realize that Seattle doesn't have a huge Hispanic population (and that it's sort of famous for bad and/or inauthentic Mexican food), but it seems like there should be other places that would have what I'm looking for. Dried chipotles, for instance, are really not that obscure (and yes, I know about the excellent canned alternative).

I'm willing to travel a bit, but suggestions near North Seattle are particularly welcome.

Where should we host a bridal shower in Seattle? We're looking for a cool private room in a restaurant, or a neat suite in a hotel, or a cool patio - it's the weekend of August 4th so all of the boats are booked for SeaFair. There will be about 30 guests. We'd like somewhere with a sit-down lunch, or a really nice buffet -- but not in a huge restaurant. If there was a view or a nice outdoor portion, all the better. Price is less important than finding the right venue at this point, so all suggestions are very welcome. I saw some ideas here, but nothing seemed quite right. The Hi-Life and Library Bistro both look good though -- any experience with those?

Sick of Denny's in Seattle

I am trying to make a decent list of 24 hour/late night restaurants in the Seattle/Lynnwood area. There are the obvious (Denny's, Dick's, Shari's etc) but we grow weary... My boyfriend and I are both nocturnal, he lives in Lynnwood, I live near Ballard and aside from Denny's, Dick's, and 13 Coins we have a hard time getting a decent meal after 9pm (especially on a week night). Added to the mix is the fact that my boyfriend is from North Carolina and has a VERY low threshold for west coast fusion/bistro type food (however I am from California and I DO like that kind of food). Any suggestions for places in Seattle or Lynnwood and all points in between are helpful!

Where to eat in Seattle?

Where to eat in Seattle? Alright, so I just moved to town and I'm trying to get to know this incredible city as much as possible. I want to know about the (amazing) food here. Your suggestions on anything edible within King County... err, the city of Seattle and a few "must eats" in Bellevue and beyond.

YES, I'd could search Yelp and CitySearch... but I'd rather hear it from the fingertips of Seattleites. Besides... both those sides hve already proven to be extremely unreliable.

I live on Queen Anne but I'd love suggestions from all over the city. We can't live in our own little boxes all the time. Also... I moved from Alabama/Mississippi, so bonus points to whoever can point out the best Southern Cuisine (BBQ, Fried Chicken, etc) in the area.
Good Filipino restaurant in Seattle?

Where's a good place to get Filipino food in Seattle? I'm a half-filipino guy living in Austin. I never get to have any Filipino cuisine, like ever. I am visiting Seattle in a couple of weeks. I am looking for a place that serves good Filipino food. I've had weird half-ass Filipino food before (think Tex-Mex when you wanted Mexican) and it left me in a foul mood. Where should I go while I'm there?

Shawarma-less in Seattle

Where can I find awesome shawarma in the Seattle area? I used to get some awesome shawarma at a Mediterranean place in California, but I haven't had any luck finding a good shawarma place since I moved to Seattle. (I found a place on the internet last year that was supposed to be good, but it was prepackaged and they just microwaved it to lukewarm -- yecch!) I always liked the chicken, but I eat beef and lamb too. Any recommendations, either in Seattle or on the East side?

Find me a class that really cooks

Please recommend good cooking classes in Seattle. I would like to give a friend a cooking class as a holiday gift. Said recipient is an omnivore (no dietary restrictions), has strong beginner (I wouldn't quite say intermediate) skills in cooking, loves both "American" and a wide variety of ethnic cuisines, and (just a random fact) is a fan of the Food Network. I already know about Whole Foods and NuCulinary but would like to widen my net.
