We are travelling to Germany and the Czech Republic later this month.
My mom has a set of severe food allergies, and would like to print some translated cards for restaurant staff just to be on the safe side.
I'd like to translate this list into both German and Czech please. I'm happy to translate using a dictionary, but I feel that native speakers will have a better handle on subtle details, such as corn and its derivatives (for example, corn flour is not big in Canada, but corn starch and corn meal are in everything).
Many thanks Metafilter!

Over the last few months I have developed a food sensitivity (I believe
the culprit is rice). It is merely annoying at the moment, but I was wondering what happens when you remove an item to which you are sensitive from your diet? Generally speaking, does your sensitivity get worse? [more inside]

For at least the past year, I've been having a bad reaction to potatoes--but only sometimes. It's very inconsistent, and despite carefully tracking it for months, I still can't find a pattern. I can eat the same type of potato with the exact same accompaniments, and one time is fine and the other time I have near-immediate gastric distress. What could be causing the issues, and why is it so inconsistent? I don't have issues with any other nightshades, or any other food intolerances. I've already considered that it might be something else I eat with the potatoes, but tracking my diet has not borne that out. [more inside]

We are going to Portland, Oregon next week. I am a vegetarian. I am allergic to corn and soy. My partner is an omnivore who eats everything except marzipan and raw animal/ocean flesh. What (aside from Natural Selection) are our can't-miss restaurants? Bonus for desserts! A few more details after the cut... [more inside]

I have some diet restrictions, I'm looking for a cruise line that can accommodate them for our Honeymoon next June.
1. I need gluten free options
2. I need gluten free & vegetarian options (IE, soups without meat & gluten, or salads etc...)
3. I need the meat to contain no addativies, injections, brines, etc... it needs to be all natural (ex, like sprouts or wholefoods)
I've found carnival has options 1 and 2, but not 3.
Any cruises that can meet all 3?

Can you make corn and bean salad without tomatoes? Even more difficult, without any citrus (i.e. lime juice) at all? What substitutions would be possible? [more inside]

I'm heading over to Europe in a few weeks and I'm curious about the differences in food quality and food ingredients as compared to the U.S. What will I find there that might be emblematic of a different system or attitude toward food? [more inside]

If a baby's eczema was food allergy related - and reacted to the proteins of that food through breast milk - would you expect a flare-up when the food itself was finally introduced directly? [more inside]

I'm thinking about doing a diet/nutrition experiment on myself where I cut out foods that are known to cause serious health issues (disease and/or allergic reactions). What resources can best help me with this? [more inside]

Practical, science-based, safe, sane "low carb" book that doesn't pull any punches? (If simply "Atkins," which one?) I'm looking for a book that is gung-ho, but still spells out what can go wrong and why: I'm three days in to a self-created low carb diet. All sorts of good stuff has happened, but all sorts of disconcerting stuff has happened, too. [more inside]

Trying to lose those last few pounds, and snacks are my downfall. I am getting tired of Ye Olde Afternoon Trail Mix. I need some new ideas for carby/protein snacks (to accompany a piece of fruit) which are portable, will keep in my bag all day, and which are compatible with my daunting list of food allergies. I have extreme food allergies. I've had several attacks many to the near brink of death. Is there any way I can "reset" my body, so I can once again eat these foods I once loved that now can threaten my life?

Is it possible that sulfa residue in food is causing my daily asthma/allergy symptoms? In a nutshell: extremely allergic to sulfa antibiotics, moved to US about 11 years ago after being raised eating mainly food grown nearby or by neighbors, began having asthma/chronic cough issues shortly thereafter. Batteries of allergy tests have never been able to ID the trigger. Recently realized that sulfa is one of antibiotics that farmers here feed livestock as if it were some kind of candy. [more inside]
