My family and I will be taking our 3rd annual trip to Waldoboro Maine in a few weeks. We'd like to get some strong recommendations on the following items within 30 miles of Waldoboro: - Place for breakfast that doesn't include Moody's. - Out of the way lobster spot (send via mail link in profile). - Unique things to do for a 3 year old? Any and all information is greatly appreciated! Oh..one more question...is it normal for lobster in a lobster roll (at Red's Eats) to be cold? That threw me last year.... Thanks mefites!

I'm living in a motel for another week and am tired of only having carry out food. What kind of yummy food can I make to feed myself? I have a microwave and a small fridge and access to a grocery store but would like to avoid buying too many supplies that I won't need in a week. Thanks!

I'm moving! I'll be driving from San Francisco (just north from there really) to New Hampshire in a month or so. I plan to document the trip w/a Nikon D40 camera and and cheaper, soon to be bought camcorder. It'll probably be a Samsung Sports Cam, although it's not central to the question. I want a great route which I have half checked out, I guess. I want a great culinary as well as a scenic sample of the US. I'm looking for the rural food/scenic stops just outside of major (or not so major) interstates. If the stops are on the interstate, awesome! If not, please tell me why the stops deserve an off interstate jaunt (50-100 miles or so off of the interstate.) Please feel free to message me if you'd rather. Most likely, I'll visit most of them, anyway. [more inside]

Can anyone recommend some good stops on Highway I95 between NC and Florida? I'm driving to Florida after Christmas on Highway I95 and thought I'd consult the mefi hive for some suggestions on good stops for food or other things that are worth pulling off the road for periodically. I've driven the route before but I've always wished I knew of better places to eat than the usual chains/fastfood (ugh!) that have saturated the highway offramps. Roadside attractions are welcome, too (but not Pedro's tourist trap emporium at the NC/SC border).

I am in NYC for the first time and I've done nearly everything that was on my list to do. The only things I am missing are a great slice of pizza (new york style, of course) and a bagel that will knock my socks off. For an added bonus, I'd like to do it on the cheap. I'm staying in Brooklyn, but the neighborhood isn't terribly important.

All things considered, I'd rather be in Philadelphia--and soon I will be. Please share your recommendations for used book stores, record stores, and vegetarian food (cheap to moderate, with moderate being entrees under $20). Also, as a bonus, if you know if any yummy restaurants near the Jersey Turnpike that would allow one to avoid the nastiness of the rest stop, that would be totally awesome.

Going home to Manila for Christmas, and Mom just emailed, asking me to bring along an entire fricking leg of Virginia Ham. I've checked the State Dept site and the US Embassy in Manila for regulations on bringing in food, but I'm running into dead links. Plus, I'm flying Emirates, with an overnight layover in Dubai. The ham should fit in my bags, well within the weight allowance, but is it safe and legal?

I'm going to CHICAGO in mid-August. I'll be there strictly for entertainment purposes only, so anything is possible. I've never been to Chicago (which is why I'm going) and would love to hear what some of you think are the best things to do, the best places to visit, and the best places to eat. What are the best places to have a beer(s) and see a band? Can I safely rely on public transportation or should I rent a car? How hard is it to get Cubs tickets (they have a home series against the Dodgers that week). Thanks!

Healthy restaurant options in the Big Easy? I'm visiting New Orleans for a week with family, and I've been warned that the place should be called "the Big Greasy." Does anyone have recommendations for fresher, greener eating options? I've seen sites dedicated to helping people pick restaurants, but I'm hoping some here have personal Nawlins experience.
