HELP! I am going nutty. Some of my MAC OS fonts and some web page fonts display as Black with a white outline which makes it very difficult to read. It happens in all browsers as well. I assume it is a font issue but have no idea how to fix it or which font it is affecting.

I need to change the name of a font that is embedded in the font itself. Any suggestions for free or cheap, basic font editing software? I don't need something over the top like Fontographer, just something with the ability to change the name.

Mac Font question: I am doing some home tech support for an elderly couple, and they're looking for a symbol/dingbat sort of font that draws frame/table elements (corners, etc.). I know I have seen fonts just like this but can't for the life of me remember what they might be called. If you can think of the names and/or give a link to a free download, I would appreciate it. Mac/DesignFilter: I once heard of a Mac program that would allow you to preview different fonts using specific text, to help ease the design of a logotype. This isn't a font manager, but more of a design tool. [more inside]

I'm using Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger), and Microsoft Word 2004. Where the heck can I find some free Hebrew fonts that will show up in a freakin' Word doc?!? I've tried several Unicode fonts (SBL Hebrew and Cardo) - they show up in my Word font menu, but only with English characters! Can I still download either TrueType or PostScript fonts, or did those stop working on Macs during the days of New Coke and Reagonomics?
