I downloaded the free font Bradybunch and somehow it has now replaced Arial in my MacBook. I don't mean that Bradybunch shows up instead of Arial; I mean that in some applications my computer now thinks Arial is made up of mixed capital and lowercase letters in a childish hand. [more inside]

Here's the deal: I've exhausted my neurons looking for some kind of answer to a mathematical symbol
stumper. I'd love to know who invented, originated, or was the first individual to use the double-tilde
(≈) as a means of expressing/denoting "approximately equal" in mathematics. I know that Robert-Recorde
is supposed to have introduced the "equals" sign (=) in 1557. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. I await enlightenment.

I'm looking to find or generate a list of movies whose logo/font includes at least one symbol replacing a letter. For instance, Night Shift
replaces the "i"s with footprints, and more famously Ghostbusters
replaces the O with the "no ghosts" icon. Bonus points if the symbol is a dollar sign. [more inside]

I loaded GIMP on to my IMac but would like to put some fonts on it (like maybe some from 1001 fonts)...I am not tech-savvy (to say the least) and would appreciate how I can go about downloading such free fonts and adding them to GIMP. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I have a 50,000 word medical thesis to write. I don't want it to end up looking like a big ugly Word document, just printed out on A4 and bound. I would like some graphic design inspiration/tips for making it look more like a real book, which would actually be a pleasure to pick up and read.

Which font format should I buy? MyFonts.com's FAQ suggests that OpenType is the wave of the future and the first truly cross-platform format. But I want to be sure that what I get will work with all my older software, older Mac OS (as well as my main Win XP machine), and wherever I get things printed. [more inside]

I'm working on my dissertation and looking for suggestions for fonts that will compliment each other well. The dissertation will be primarily in English, with substantial amounts of quoted German text, a fair bit of French, and occasional epigraphs or isolated words of polytonic Greek. [more inside]

I'm asking on behalf of a friend who wants to print up some more materials for her salon, but hasn't had any luck finding the same font used for the sign.
Any ideas? Already tried identifont.com without success.
The sign in question is here.

I am looking for a multicolor font with a Christmas theme to make a list of numbers. These numbers will be pulled by participants in a Yankee Swap to determine the pecking order. Do multicolor fonts exist and if so, where can I find some freebies? Should I be looking for clip art numbers or something else?

I am using CS2 and missing various PostScript fonts. I ran FontDoctor in hopes of fixing the problem, but it is still reporting that I cam missing about 50 bitmap fonts. How can I reload these fonts? Please walk me through each step - this is all new to me.
