I really like the font titled Hominis. I'd love to know what historical era the style belongs to--Victorian?--as well as what typeface it might have been modeled after, if it doesn't seem original. (I attempted to contact the designer, but was unsuccessful.) Thanks in advance.
Hoping that the fab font people on here might be able to help me out. I was wondering if anyone can identify the font used for the title in the Broadchurch tv series? We are currently branding our music company, and this is EXACTLY the sort of font we have been searching for. I have done some poking around, but I can't find a listing for that particular font. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
So the long and short of it is, I'm pretty sure that Meiryo UI is messed up or missing or something, and instead Office 2011 on my Mac has decided that it'd be totally cool to use Mart Futomaru Gothic instead for most Japanese text display, including all over Excel. Is there some way to reinstall just the font(s) or maybe clear the Office font cache?
What does this say? Trying to make out the characters in the second line of text here: Stoneware Jar. Also, is there a third line?
Approximately how old is this sign, and what font is it? The stucco facade could date from as early as the 1920s, but the lettering on the signs looks to my untrained eye to be from the 70s or later.
Font ID: This is one of the fonts Fox is using on their new "FXX" network. Sans, geometric, no curves, only horizontal, vertical or 45 degree strokes. [more inside]

I'm looking for a dingbats font for a specific purpose. I'm creating a book of numbered paragraphs, and the number is above each paragraph in an elegant display font (Copperplate). On each side of the number, I'd like to put a fairly simple, unobtrusive, horizontal dingbat. This could be done with dingbats that are mirror images of each other. It could be as simple as a brush stroke that's heavier on the left or right, with the heavy ends near the number. Or it could be something else. I'm not looking for anything too leafy or flowery or pretty or Victorian. Do you know of a dingbats font like this that's downloadable for free? [more inside]
I have to edit several PDFs. Not big edits, just some text changes. I'm using Acrobat X on a Mac, while the PDFs seem to have been created on a PC using Ghost Script, though I don't know what exact piece of software was used. [more inside]
Typographers, designers, and font geeks: I'm looking for fonts with a distinctive and stylish letter "X". Other criteria: sans serif, not too ornate, and preferably free to download. The X is going to form part of a word, so as well as being distinctive it should also fit nicely with the other characters. Thanks in advance (:
I'm looking for a font that's based on or looks like the screen font used in the original Taito/Midway Space Invaders from 1978. (Unused witty title for this question: 'Diaresis puny earthlings!')
The other day I was watching the movie and like the font. First I thought it's TNR then I thought maybe some Sans but I couldn't figure out. I loved the clean spacious fonts. Which one was it? [more inside]
I have been asked to submit my CV/resume to an Australian based management consulting firm to potentially do some project based work with them. What is the acceptable length, format and font to use for a CV/resumes in this industry?
I tried this on both WhatTheFont and Identifont, but I've only got the three letters to go on so I wasn't surprised when neither had an answer. But maybe the designers of MetaFilter can help! Please ID this font.
A project I'm working on uses Handmade Dropshadow JNL for the main title. Obviously, that's not a typeface you can use anywhere other than in the title, so can you recommend a secondary display font for subtitles, headings, and so on? Another web-font would be a plus, but not a requirement.

It's time for another edition of Name That Font! I have two examples--I'm not sure if they're the exact same font, but they're a similar style, and I would be happy with anything that's close to these examples (example 1, example 2). What the Font isn't helping because the letters are connected so it can't recognize individual letters. And....go!

I've got an old Mac font suitcase (OS 9) containing fonts I'd like to use on my OS X (10.7) Mac. I'm not sure what format they're in but copying the file over to my new Mac results in a 0-byte file. I think I have to convert them to TTF on my OS 9 iMac, but not sure what to do it with. Any suggestions? Free would be great, since I don't plan on doing this again, but cheap would be okay.
I would like to create a font using someone's handwriting and am looking for a good software with which to do this. I'm not an expert in this, so it would have to have a small learning curve, unless it is really worth it for me to spend time learning so I can get reasonable results. [more inside]

A MacOS n00b (me) seeks knowledgable a MacOS user to help him with a problem. I've connected my brand new Mac Mini to an HDTV via an HDMI cable. I'm running it in 1080p since I bought the mini to use as an HTPC. But in this resolution, system text (such as the wind name, the URL bar in Safari etc) is killing my eyes. It's pretty small and barely readable from my couch. How do I fix this?
